Best pundit?
Who do you reckon is the best pundit?
I reckon Andy Gray and Jamie Redknapp are very good.

Yes we have, and he was *very* popular 6-7 years ago. He partners José María Maldonado often. Robinson usually plays the funny entertainer part while Maldonado is the footballing brain.Bruce Rioja wrote:Don't you lot have Michael Robinson commentating for you over there, VI ?Village Idiot wrote:José María Maldonado.
Sorry, wrong country (he's GREAT, though).
There was once a challenge were people would phone the station and ask Maldini (Maldonado) who wore any given squad number of any given major top flight league in western Europe (England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy). He nailed them all but one (and later it was discovered that the caller's source had it wrong!)

But is it, Cowdrill? I can't think of a more patronising nice person on earth than Andy Gray. "Ooh, did ya see thaaaat? He gits oop at the baaaack stick, he nods it doooown, and ye haaave to say that ya dooon't save thoooose". Really, Andy? Great stuff. What insight. I'd never have known what was going on if it weren't for you.cowdrill wrote:omg what a BORING thread!

Don't know who the best is. But I know the worst is undoubtedly Steve Claridge. Amazingly unprofessional (eg. turning up 30 minutes late for a UEFA Cup game on Channel 5 last season) and biased not only towards the clubs he played for but against clubs he has had some kind of agenda with during his overlong career. Talks absolute sh*t without a hint of irony.
Oh, and I failed to mention the fact that he hates us.

Alan Smith anyone? To hear him on Sky last night trotting out all the stereotypes about Watford's "in-your-face" "long ball" game as opposed to City's "exquisite" (I kid you not) approach play was cringeworthy to say the least.
When Citeh started lumping it up the park in the last half hour Watford had "forced them to play at their level" apart from on one occasion when the massive's dodgy scouser leathered the shit out a ball over the Watford back four. That was "incisive and direct".
Oh, and if you did watch it what did you reckon to Hamman? Utter shite, imho.

Hamann was indeed truly woeful. Looks like he's completely lost interest in the game. The tough-tackling and incisive passing has all vanished. Still, it must be tiring picking up those huge wages at the end of the week.

Biggest problem with almost all pundits is that they are all really fence-sitting, band-waggon-jumping hypocrites. They are the first to put the boot into teams like Bolton, then praise them when they start to achieve something with expressions like "I've always admired Bolton" etc etc. Lawrenson is the pack leader on this, with people like Jim Beglin and Pat Nevin not far behind. Waste of good oxygen.
