Ricky Hatton Vs Urango
Imgonna stay up and watch this, i usually dont watch stateside matches cant be arsed staying up. But i watched Rocky 6 last night and im in the mood.
Cant see anything other than a Hatton win, but by no means is it an easy fight. Is anyone else looking forward to it?

Then again, put any Bolton supporter in the same ring tonight and you would get pretty much the same result!!!Soldier_Of_The_White_Army wrote:Hatton has trained harder for this fight then any of his others! I would expect Hatton to beat him in the fourth after breaking the guys ribs and turning his insides to mush!

Ive got
Hatton to KO Urango in the 4th £2.50 @ 11/1
Hatton to KO Urango in the 5th £2.50 @ 10/1
Urango to KO or TKO Hatton anytime £1.00 @ 9/1 (this is my banker if it all goes wrong)
In truth i think Hatton will win on points but there is no money there. But they are both punching fighters, so they may mute each other, or one hell of a fight. I want to see the latter

Pretty lacklustre win for Hatton. His opponent next summer Castillo looked even worse on the undercard - he won a controversial split decision over Monreals' Hermann Ngoudjo in only his 16th fight.

Not the most entertaining of fights but an impressive performance by Hatton nonetheless. He totally dominated Urango, evidenced by all 3 judges scoring the bout 11-1 in Hatton's favour.
I think there was a little reservation in the performance as he was rightly concerned by Urango's power. He has to be the biggest light-welter I have ever seen! Urango was extremely strong and was able to bully Hatton when they got into a clinch. As a result Hatton tended to land a quick combo and then move out. All in all a pretty comfortable fight.
The interesting thing is what happens now? The immediate future should be a June showdown with Castillo who was remarkably underwhelming on the undercard. I wouldn't read too much into that though as he often does the bare minimum to win. I'd expect Hatton to beat Castillo however and that's where I see the problems.
Hatton wants a dream bout against Mayweather Jr later this year. This is where I envisage the problem. Assuming Mayweather Jr beats De La Hoya in May, and I think he will, Hatton will be offered as his next opponent. What does Mayweather Jr stand to gain by fighting Hatton? The purse for the De La Hoya fight will be $33m, a figure that will dwarf any purse for a Hatton fight.
Aside from the money issue is the weight issue. Mayweather Jr is a perfect welterweight and Hatton is much better at light-welterweight. Whoever fights at their specialist weight will have a huge advantage. Hatton cannot bully opponents at welterweight as he proved against Collazo. (Incidentally he fights Mosley next week which should be a great fight). Mayweather Jr would be hesitant to drop down to light-welterweight and potentially sacrifice some of his power.
I can't wait to see what happens in 2007!

not to take anything from Hatton because though it wasn't a great fight...he forced Urango into a fight which Hatton could win. Castillo was shite but a fight between the 2 still promises to be a better show than the one witnessed a few nights ago. if Hatton can tie up (and as much as i hate to watch this sort of fight) Castillo may lose to Hatton.
