Anyone agree? Seems to me he's turned a bit smarmy lately. Loved Extras but he doesn't have to turn into a nob does he?

With you HRG, never a big fan, used to think he was nothing more than offensive on the 11 o'clock show, and wasn't a massive fan of extras, the office was ok, but more for the antics of gareth than gervais.

Stone him!!

Balls - the Office and Extra's were brilliant, Extra's especially - but me and the lady went to see him live at the MEN (freebie) the other week and it was awfull!
I almost felt embarrased for him, his gags were either old or the punch lines were predictable, banging on about how infortunate it is being famous, the title of the tour is 'Fame' - it was shocking, gags like ' i'll tell you what pisses me off about being famous, i bought a new house last year, and it was all over the papers, ''gervais buys 2 million pound mansion'' i hate the paperazzi, it was more like 3 million!'

Jog on Gervais! go and make more of the Office and Extra's!

That is funnier than Reeves and Mortimer though.

I don't think he is any good at stand up, I agree - he is best sticking to his sit coms - if that is what The Office and Extras are.

I remember at work there was a secret santa and everyone handed out the presents in the pub. This one woman bought this guy the flanimals book by Gervais. He looked at it as if he was holding a piece of turd. When we left the pub he lobbed it out of the car window and the car behind had the woman who bought him it and they drove over it. It was highly amusing.

The Office was new and funny....for a while, then it started floundering. When the series ended, all had been covered. It, and Gervais, should have finished there. Can't happen though can it? We're on "Die Hard IV, as a shining example.

There is a comment on that blog suggesting Gervais has become David Brent. Which I am inclined to accept.

Saw him do a stand-up at the Opera House a few years back. It was fecking superb in so far as his stand up was David Brent taken to the nth degree. I couldn't stand Bernard Manning, many on here thought that he was fantastic. Unto each, their own. That said, I'd also agree that Gervais needs to wind his neck in for a while before he actually becomes the pillock that he's so far done well to parody.

The Office was more about the supporting cast. Extras didn't raise a titter.

How come Office and Extras are still winning awards from the BBC when they stopped 2/3yrs ago? Bollocks.

Not that I watched it, but my girlfriend reckoned the second series of Extras was much better than the first. I agree about Gervais, not funny, never was funny. There were a few good sequences in The Office, but that was it. I remember the only time I really laughed out loud was the charity funday when he got sacked and stood up with the stupid bird thing on.

Yeah, he's quickly going downhill.

The Office was excellent, but I wasn't that keen on Extras at all. I went to see him a couple of years back and he was very funny then but from what I've heard from friends he's not as hilarious as before

He never had it to lose. The Office made me cringe but never laugh - and it wasn't even an original idea.
