The Anti-Christ wrote: The Q Awards might have honoured Kylie Minogue with an award today, but she was obviously not so well admired by former Stone Roses singer Ian Brown, as he launched into a stinging tirade against the Australian.
Speaking at the ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, the Mancunian singer said Kylie’s music was “rubbish” and “for little kids”.
He told the BBC Radio Five Live: “I don’t know what Kylie’s doing at a music awards to be honest.
“I don’t think she’s cute. I don’t think she’s good-looking. Her music’s rubbish – she makes music for little kids.
“I’m sorry if it sounds like I’m putting her down, but there’s a lot of great minds out there making music and she’s not one of them.”
Kylie had earlier received the “Q Idol” award.

You asked why "her efforts were so without merit" pointing on numerous occasions to Kylie's "volumes" of sales, number of fans, "how many bedroom walls" she's appeared on, "flamenco...probably liked by far less than her music etc." "but she's an "idol" for more people than he [Ian Brown] would ever be" The only point I was trying to make was that large volumes of people supporting a particular viewpoint doesn't make it right - otherwise we'd probably all have to support ManUre as they probably have the largest fanbase in the UK......communistworkethic wrote:did I say it did W4E, you'll see I very clearly wrote "purchasers of 65 million". well done for reducing the argumemt to the Nazis, may as well just have had teh thread locked. As it happens you're argument applies to the validity of any opinion therefore, congrats on your circular argument. Then you rumble on in to something about Q readership having anything to do with her album sales, no idea what leap you've made there or why.
The fact remains she won the "Q Idol"award, I'm yet to see anything that resembles an reasoned comment as to why it isn't a valid award.
Not sure how you come to the conclusion that the argument is circular, but hey ho - it's a free world. My rumbling on about the Q readership was to point out that the number of people voting for her to get the Q Idol award was probably substantially lower than 65 million....not that I begrudge her getting it I think she's offered a lot to her particular audience - I just don't get the hype surrounding her and her music doesn't do much for me. (Bit like Posh Spice really)...
