If you were Simon Cowell (or somebody who knew about music), and you could put your fantasy band together - alive or dead, who would it be?

Vocals: Bruce Dickinson

Lead Guitar: Ritchie Blackmore (Steve Vai misses by a whisker)

Rythm Guitar: Joe Strummer

Bass: Steve Harris

Drums: Cozy Powell + Dave Grohl (I'd have two drummers)

No, no, no...
You would need, for a true "Supergroup", as they used to be called:
Roy Harper - guitar
Lemmy - bass
Peter Hammill - keyboards.
All of them could do vocals - it would depend on the nature of the song as to who sang at any given time.
You'd need a drummer. Don't know who, though. Richard Chadwick, maybe...

I used to care, but things have changed"

Snigger.

One of the best quotes ever was when someone asked John Lennon if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world. Inb his best laconic scouse accent he replied "Ringo ?? .... He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles !"

Voc. Paul Rodgers
Guitars. Leslie West & Jimi Hendrix
Bass. Gr eg Lake (with vocals also)
Drums. Ginger Baker
Keys. Rick Wakeman
Tubular Bells. Mike Oldfield
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
