It's the devil's own film.
Its not my favourite film, but what is so offensive about it?
:D
Not offensive, just plain wrong.
Tom Hanks pretending to be a small child is shirley reason enough? And what's the deal with the giant piano keyboard? Wrong-diddley-wrong-wrong.

Seriously, I hate BIG.
I have played on that piano. and it is fun!!!!

Get the Tom Hanks point though

Withnail is on film 4 quite often, thik it was even on last night.

Your right though, a golden age - although some are probably more nostalgia than quality.

However, this was my personal favourite, and still one of my all time...

Restless Natives! So someone else has seen it as well as me. Brilliant.

Withnail is an over-rated laugh free zone IMO though. Sorry.

Bloody hell.....

This thread is certainly taking me back....

Teen Wolf was bloody fun (at the time), and the likes of Indian Jones & Raiders of the Lost Ark (which I have an inkling may have been a tad before 1980!) and Back to the Future were ahead of their time.

Rocky II and III also deserve special mention.

What about The Abyss?

Or classic, tongue-in-cheek, pure escapism, science fiction? I give you:

St Hubbins? The patron Saint of comfortable footwear...
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

That's the one :-)

[Nigel is playing a soft piece on the piano]
Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, I've been fooling around with it for a few months.
Marty DiBergi: It's a bit of a departure from what you normally play.
Nigel Tufnel: It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.
Marty DiBergi: It's very nice.
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

So, at least there's two of us thinking 'most over rated movie ever'? Never managed to endure more than 30 minutes of it, and have tried several times.

Sooo, how can you draw a conclusion on something that you haven't watched? At 30 minutes in the story hasn't really begun.

Also "Big Trouble In Little China" is one of my all time faves

Good point.

Obviously a work of genius but only from the 31st minute...
