Greatest ever....90s Movies

Post by KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab » Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:28 am

Spinning off Crazy Horse's 80s, thread, I lost sleep trying to remember my favourite movies from the two subsequent decades last night. I'm no film buff, but I know what I like. Not going to go too much into the premise of the film, and I'll keep why I like them short, bt in no particular order:

Leon

Such a cute storyline told in such a violent way. Gary Oldman is brilliant in it. He seems to play the inteligent madman to perfection.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

Tremendous that they didn't just do a 90 minute episode. And of course spawned the terms "Unclefucker" and "Donkey-raping shiteater". Not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly mine.

American History X

Very powerful story about a very sensitive subject told without patronising us. A difficult task when tackling racismin films.

True Romance

Brilliant, brilliant, briliant. This was Tarantino's decade, but I feel it's somehow strange that the least Tarantinoesque film he wrote was the one I enjoyed the most.

Just four of maybe nine or ten I could have expanded on. I'll leave the rest to you lot.

Under Siege

and

Under Siege 2.

He's just a cook.

True emotional roller-coasters, putting the viewer through an intense, unforgettable experience never before matched in the cinema, combined with possibly the finest piece of character acting ever seen, as Seagal brings Casey Ryback to life. If ever there was must-see cinema, this is it.

The Usual Suspects - best film, best character.

theres a film from the nineties (i think) thats doing me head in.

if anyone knows the title (or whos in it) tell us heres..

It is apparantly part of a loose trilogy (i've only seen this one i think)

Its a spoof/satire of TV stations / TV Owning Conglomerates, kinda like that spike lee film "Bamboozled" or whatever it was..

I think its about some writer who probably lives with some mates and girlfriend , he gets some job writing for some tv show, which probably is not what he want to do, he probably whats to do films or write books or summat.

i carnt remember any of the actors (i thought the main dude was ed burns, but it probably isnt) and i thought the head honcho at the station was kathleen turner (probly not). I thought some black comedian like chris tucker / chris rock / dave chappelle (might even have been rupaul) was in it for about 3 minutes..

the only thing i'm sure of was a spoof of MTV called "empty V" in it.

i thought it was by them royal tennenbaums dudes, but it might not be a indie type film, it might be a tv-movie.

its doing me head in. and google only works when you 'know' what you want.

thanks

Thirded!

For something a bit more serious, Pulp Fiction, The Usual Suspects, Carry on Columbus (spot the odd one out).
