Sympathy for the Devil - Stones

Layla (Acoustic) - Clapton
Locomotive Breath - Tull
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

notable mentions owed to 100's of others however.

I couldn't possibly do a top 5 of all time but I can do my current five favourites today, in no real order...

[1] Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Redemption Song
[2] Glen Hansard - When Your Minds Made Up
[3] Ben Folds Five - Brick
[4] Kings of Leon - Manhattan
[5] Snow Patrol - Crack the Shutters

In a bit of a meloncholic mood I think!

If you're going to make me pick just five I'm going to have to say the first five songs off-of The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses.

Nuff said, I'm locking the thread.

Johnny Was - Stiff Little Fingers
Private Hell - The Jam
Street Spirit (Fade Out) - Radiohead
Forest Fire - Lloyd Cole and The Commotions
Staring at the Rude Boys - The Ruts
May the bridges I burn light your way

Will have to be "five of" rather than five favourite for me. Top of the head:

Me and Mrs Jones. Billy Paul
Heard it on the grapevine. Marvin Gaye
Rock Your Baby George MaCray
Africa Toto
Come Fly with me Sinatra.

Can I have another go?

Beach Boys - God Only Knows
Pulp - Babies
Killers - All These Things That I've Done
Beatles - Strawberry Fields
Oasis - Slide Away

Hard to nail it to just 5 but using a combination of my iTunes play count and a bit of thought I've thrown these up.

Is this put in to see if anyone reads it? Or are you going to say that it's a little slice of pop heaven

This is far too difficult, I've been trying to think of any tracks that are completely indispensable, and the only two I can think of are:

The Clash : Rudie Can't Fail

and

Joni Mitchell : Big Yellow Taxi

...I'm sure The Killers, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Neil Young and The Flaming Lips would probably accompany me to a desert island...just not sure which ones.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
