Tactical Nuclear Penguin was the 30%, Sink The Bismarck was the 40%...

I'm pretty ambivalent towards them, they tend to do some amusing things (the 1.1% Nanny State) and some blatant overdone publicity stunts (aformentioned bismarck, tastes like TNP with battery acid added). Their stance against cask ale is particularly baffling.

Beers are usually interesting once, rarely something you'd drink twice IMO

Nice long weekend in London. Staying near Oxford Circus. Loved it. Not least because of the huge number of old, street corner pubs that were pubs, selling proper beer (albeit at just under £4 a pint, the robbin bastards!)...

But some v gd stuff... Faves included Fullers London Pride, Abbott and Doom Bar... Nice...

Though glad now to be back in a place of comparative sanity, where it's possible to buy a round without risking bankruptcy... We were unusual customers in the West End - we paid with money! Everyone else with plastic...

There's a place in Manchester called BrewDog, there's a few in the country, has anybody been down? I've not had chance myself so was chuffed to find Tesco had a couple in. The Punk IPA was really nice.
There's one in Camden I've been to. Scottish brewery, getting more and more widespread. They come out with stupidly strong brews every so often - probably so that health charities issue statements of outrage, thus securing some free publicity. Never fails.

Love their Camden pub though - never had a bad beer there.

I'm with you on this. They're Ok for a one-off 'interesting' drink, but I've not gone out of my way to find them, and some of them are outright revolting, and I'm not particularly enamoured of the Punk IPA either. Hey ho.

Yup, the one bizarre beer they made that I'd have seconds of had a mayfly's existence two years ago - in fact I never saw it after its launch night! They seem to have very little attention span with these, thoug I'll give them credit for changing the Punk IPA recipe a year or so ago to something a bit more palatable

Ah, cheers gents. Not far from the end of the world, I see. Will have to check it out, if only for novelty.

If you're over near Botany Bay pop in to the drinks cabinet.

Some really nice beers in there.

a slight NYR was to broaden my horizons in pubs and swerve the lager. had a wander round the pubs of Spitalfields last night and was on all kinds of ales, stouts and bitters. The Water Poet might be my favourite pub in London now, was on Londonfields Wheat Beer, Adnams and Truemans in there. belting.

having to remain very still to avoid my head falling off this morning.

The Water Poet is a nice little boozer. Does a cracking Sunday lunch, too.

The Meantime Brewery in Greenwich is well worth a visit, General. There's also a central london ale trail but i forget the pubs.
