Relief! Nipped up to Our Kid's last night and his rows of spuds are no more advanced than those in my grow bags. The rascal then went on to show me the progress of his peaches, grapes, olives and so on.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That's fair. Throw down the gauntlet Brucie. Darn it. Potatoes! I knew there was something I had forgotten to put in that I meant to this year. Am guessing I have left it too late now?

You'll probably get away with early main crops if the weather plays nice, or play it safe with charlottes or similar.Gooner Girl wrote:Darn it. Potatoes! I knew there was something I had forgotten to put in that I meant to this year. Am guessing I have left it too late now?

Seriously, the better weather will help, just chose your type well and be ready for slightly later crops. But get it done by the weekend.

They've slowed down again - and the twins keep on insisting on collecting (and dropping) them. But I could do swapsies for some of the masses of rhubarb in my front garden if you like?!Bruce Rioja wrote:Ah, ah, ah. Not soooooo quick. Ah, I was too slow with my 'chips' edit. Mmmmm. Can't beat a bit of rhubarb crumble. Have made J and J apple and raspberry crumble recently which they like, not sure how they will feel about rhubarb. Will have to try them with it when their father isn't around to make barfing noises and complain that it looks like muscle sinew...

This much ... apparently ; -Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It is a complicated equation, but it can be simplified to q+(l*(h/l)+h where q is the capacity in centilitres of the slugs stomach l is the length of the slug in centimeters and h is the height of the slug in centimeters. I'd add a bit so he can't get his head above the beer line.boltonboris wrote:How much beer would you need to kill a slug that's big enough to tow a caravan through quick sand?

Re: The Gardening Bed
The lawn project continues apace .... pull out over 400 dandilionesque weeds, weed & feed, scarify, more weed & feed, fill in holes, lay seed, water every evening and watch in despair as no seed seems to take ..... until today when suddenly there were newly sprouting shoots in the bare areas.
These are the first green shoots of recovery. Should I call George Osborne ?
Happy bobo.

I assume that it must have been pissing it down this week, whilst I've been away then?!
Last Sunday my spuddy plants had starting showing a nice covering, as per Bish's of a couple of weeks ago.
Then, this evening, I get home to these!!!!
