The abomination that is Windows 8

Post by Raven » Fri Oct 25, 2013 5:49 pm

Anyone use it, better half has it on her pc and its a pile of complete and utter shite, whilst surfing constantly getting pop up and search message thing down the side and just awful to use, anyone know at least how to get rid of these, its bloody slow too

Would it be better to take it to PC expert and get them to remove it and install an older OS?

Cheers

No need to revert just put Classic Shell over the top. I did and life began again.
As Bobo said, details on the Technical thread a bit back.

The side charms bar can be stopped from appearing down the side if your missus stops floating her mouse in the top/bottom right corners which is what activates it.
W8 is genuinely brilliant, don't know what the fuss is all about.

I like apple as the technology interlinks and just works.

Apple don't have an exclusive market on stuff that 'just works'.

I tend to find stuff 'just working' a pretty bare minimum for satisfaction.

Also no-one has ever referred to their i-nexus, or i-galaxy, so they're winning, morally.

I have both touch and non-touch screen. Both are shit. It is a tough call as to which is shitter, but as the touch screen cost twice as much I'll award it the prize.

I agree, it's brill IMO and much better than previous windows versions. Runs much smoother.

Windows 8.1 (free upgrade) now released which is supposed to bring back that windows button in some form.

It does exactly the same as the windows button on the keyboard  You can right click for other options, but it's still inferior to a proper old skool one.

Stick with 7 as long as you can. Some bits of 8 is good, but it's not particularly great at desktop or touch.
