Where are you going tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

I went to a similar Burt Bacharach event at the same venue a couple of years ago and thought it was excellent! I din't think I knew much of his work but out of the 18 songs played I knew very nearly all the words to 16 of them. Have a great night.

What a truly great play that is!

And the Octagon is reviving A View from the Bridge in the new year. My favourite Miller.

It only seems a short time since they had that on as part of a Miller season. Or am I getting mixed up? I remember seeing Broken Glass and Death of A Salesman as well I think.

Ooof. Seven or eight years ago, maybe?

Edit: 8th March - 7th April 2007. Not a bad guess that, was it?! ;)

Burt was excellent last night. Not a dry eye in the house. Loved it.

It really is! I knew the general plot and that it was an allegory on a subject i'm quite interested in, so went in pretty hopeful despite the fact it's the first play i've ever seen. Think i've been spoiled, personally.

Yes in Mark Babych's time i think... Very, very decent productions as well...

But Miller is a speciality for David Thacker - for me 'View from the Bridge' is miller at his very best... If DT is, it will be spesh...

End of Cowes week, fireworks night, Red Arrows (4th time on/above IoW this year!); and after no rain for nigh on 3 months.................It's p issing down. Biblical proportions. Anyway, a good time being had by all. Just waiting for after nine o'clock when the local eejits take umbrage to anyone wearing yachting gear and end up getting a bit of a slapping from a toff who's just left Harrow. On a brighter note, Pippa is supposed to be here following her surprise visit on Monday. (Not to my house I may add). If I see her arse, I'll try and photograph it. ( Or if in a crowded place........pinch it! ) Operation Yew Tree here I come!!...........

nowhere in particular. BUT the Jabberwocky festival due this weekend spectacularly fell through after ATP Festivals, known to be as reliable as a Pratley/Trotter midfield two, pulled the whole thing with three days' notice. Understandably, a lot of people who had booked travel down here and from foreign shores are pretty peeved.

Anyway, in its place some of the bands and promoters are trying to stage ad hoc shows around that London. I've got tickets to see Ben Frost now, maybe some of these will interest though londoners

Nah, ATP are more inept than that. Big history of putting on events and overstretching themselves.

For the benefit of potential day trippers etc:

Wife's just returned from a three-day trip with eldest daughter and the lad she's a carer for. Day one was a bit of a disaster, coach from Blackpool was late at The Albion due to late bookings, later still because of traffic and having to pick more people up on route, and when they got to the venue, Heights of Abraham, in Derbyshire, and the cable car trip, they hardly had time to see anything after reaching the tops, before the driver hustled them off to reach the hotel, book in and take evening meal at 6-0'clock. (Somewhat early for a hotel evening meal, but the rooms were apparently very nice and food good) Downer was £4-40 for a medium sized glass of white wine in the bar. ( When you consider the price of a big bottle at Asda etc). Early night.

Day Two was breakfast-again, good food, and some Safari Park (Coventry I think?) trip that was nothing spectacular. Too much time on the coach. Cars were diving in in front of the coach, and it was all about times, which got way behind again due to over-loitering. Hotel, another decent meal, early night. Not the best day. Knackered.

Day three was a visit to Warwick Castle which the wife declared "wonderful" Loads to see and do. Eagles on display in a demonstration. Again, a bit rushed and they missed the jousting. Downer was £9 each if you wanted to visit the dungeons after already having paid entrance. Very enjoyable venue though and she would happily go there again.

They got back home tonight at 7-0 after heavy traffic and some poor souls still had to go on to Blackpool. Verdict, far too much time spent travelling due to people turning up late etc. All felt rushed and thus not enough time at the venues. Apart from Warwick, wouldn't do it again.....says she.

as I mentioned above - Beaulieu Motor Museum - blah, blah...

they now have a Top Gear exhibition too where quite a lot of the cars featured in their "challenges" are on display...

the huge stretch-panda limousine and Hammonds bowling alley stretch-limo
the indestructible Toyota van that they put on the top of block of flats being demolished and it still started
the car-boats they built to cross the channel
the off-road disability scooters
the snow-plough with flame thrower
the ski-jump mini
the car refurnished as a cottage

all very entertainingly displayed...

well worth a visit - though cheap it is not!
