Still working out what that's representing in a flower show?

Re: the Photo thread
ahh.. well - there are pics - but I tried not to make it a photography tour and so did not take pics designed to be exhibited or shown that much! I did take pics - but mostly as a journaling/record of where I'd been thing...Bijou Bob wrote:Nb speaking of religious types wobbling round on two wheels, I was rather looking forward to seeing The Bish's Grand Tour photo's..........cough.........
here's a few at random...
(Loch Lomond on way down from Iona to Glasgow)
(Puffin on Inner Farne)
(Shag on Inner Farne)
(Shankill Road mural and chip shop)
(St Cuthbert, Holy Island)
(Whitesands sunset near youth hostel whilst visiting St David's)
(encounter with a Holy Island seal)
now you may regret asking!

The 2nd Boer War. British sovereignty over The Orange Free State and the Transvaal in accordance with the Treaty of Vereeniging. That's my guess anyway!TANGODANCER wrote:Still working out what that's representing in a flower show?

But they are Zulu shields so why not the Zulu War? I have no guess to be honest since it is not a significant anniversary of either!Bruce Rioja wrote:The 2nd Boer War. Didn't want to quote your post and block out a whole page Bish, but not at all, more please! Love the top pic. Any post production in that?

Keep those pics coming please, Bish. That Shankhill Road mural is one of its more artistically credible ones. Most of them are laughable. This one, supposedly of the Queen Mother, makes me chuckle every time I drive past it..

That last one looks cold. I think you were brave going for a swim.

not much - no - just a little levels & curves tweak... oh - and I brushed out an annoying bright red life-belt from the furthest decking... if you look at the water carefully you can see a small amount of puzzling red reflection!Bijou Bob wrote:Didn't want to quote your post and block out a whole page Bish, but not at all, more please! here's Canterbury cathedral - this had some noise-reduction and shadow enhancement - but was a hand-held shot, not tripod - so was quite pleased with it!

Re: the Photo thread
A couple of images from yesterdays walk.
The first is allegedly Britains most photographed tree and was used in a scene of a major film. Any guesses as to where I was? The second is one of two Chinooks and a Blackhawk that all buzzed around me for about 10 minutes creating an almighty din and scattering cattle to all corners:

About as much idea as Robin Hood had thinking that going to Hadrian’s Wall on his way back to Nottingham via Dover, from Jerusalem was an acceptable detour....

^ Aye, "Tonight we dine in Nottingham," as they come ashore with Dover in the background. The next scene is Hadrians Wall and yet they do make Nottingham by nightfall! Real men can walk 600 miles a day in Hollywood.

There must be another Sycamore Gap nearer to Sherwood (although doing the 170 odd miles from Dover to Nottingham in a day would take some doing on Shank's Pony).clapton is god wrote:^ Aye, "Tonight we dine in Nottingham," as they come ashore with Dover in the background. Another day out today, this time to my usual haunt of the Lakes. The Langdales in the background with some lovely light and shade through the image:
