No, they are lighter and have a longer battery life though.General Mannerheim wrote:yeah but they're not that much cheaper are they?BWFC_Insane wrote:I reckon a 2 would do you...........General Mannerheim wrote:spend a lot of time on trains between manc and london, and on tubes around london etc. just want it for light gaming, general browsing, and watching films on. 16gb will do me. also like the educational kids games ive seen for the little'uns - plus we have a 4.5 hr flight next week and i reckon it'll be ace for keeping her entertained.
Which given your remote requirements I thought might be more relevant than a higher resolution screen.
Though its worth checking the two screens out.
Also some people claim the 3 gets pretty hot, to an "uncomfortable" level. Given it packs the extra power needed to shift the retina resolution, it wouldn't surprise me.
But again, I'm sure either will be just great.

F'kin'ell General, you need to break out of the circle; 'plane will be taking off shortly and you need entertainment. If it wasn't for the Nexus 7 being wifi only I'd tell you to save your money.General Mannerheim wrote:spend a lot of time on trains between manc and london, and on tubes around london etc. just want it for light gaming, general browsing, and watching films on. 16gb will do me. also like the educational kids games ive seen for the little'uns - plus we have a 4.5 hr flight next week and i reckon it'll be ace for keeping her entertained.
Or maybe wait and see if the iPad mini rumours are true, but you could be waiting a while.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Why? Given you've said you mainly want to use it "out and about" will that not limit you?General Mannerheim wrote:i only want wifi only.keveh wrote:If it wasn't for the Nexus 7 being wifi only I'd tell you to save your money.General Mannerheim wrote:spend a lot of time on trains between manc and london, and on tubes around london etc. just want it for light gaming, general browsing, and watching films on. 16gb will do me. also like the educational kids games ive seen for the little'uns - plus we have a 4.5 hr flight next week and i reckon it'll be ace for keeping her entertained.

Or are you planning to just do the browsing stuff when there is wifi available?
Having said that at work, we've experimented with both 3G and wifi only, the trouble is on the train to say London you lose 3G half the bloody time anyhow, so people end up connecting to the train wifi anyhow....but then that rarely works in my experience......

Re: Technology Thread.
virgin trains have free wifi, theres wifi at work and wifi at the digs - there is no signal for cellular on tubes anyway. I cant think of an instance where id be using it where there wasn’t wifi available?
Suppose i could get one on a contract with a certain amount of 3g usage – would help spread the cost...?
