Obviously because she knows her stuff and is the best woman for the job. Class will out, as it should do.Gertie wrote:Good luck to your step-son hope he gets on with his trials.
Interesting (to me anyways) that the England ladies team is coached by a black woman, Hope Powell. Is football racism only restricted to men??

Yeah you're more than right....
There's no pretending legs have been cut off when someone brushes past, there's no rolling around on the floor as if shot by a sniper, there's no diving, there's no screaming at the refs, there are no Hummers or diamond studded Lincoln Travelators in the Carpark, there are no assaults with golf sticks on team-mates, there is no waving imaginary cards, there is no unnecessary and bad taste bling jewellery, there are no outrageous paychecks, there isn't any international silverware...
But there are hairbands and long hair... Plus the removing of shirts is frowned upon.
So you're spot on it's not football - as we know it

that's less racism and more of a cliqueCAPSLOCK wrote:Oh, do keep uphisroyalgingerness wrote:eh?CAPSLOCK wrote:So, are we saying that's acceptable racism?hisroyalgingerness wrote:certainly the examples cited as black coaches with qualifications is a remarkably short list. compare that with the total no of coaches and they are but a minute drop in an ocean. so it is very unlikely that some will rise to the top
they'll be moaning about lack of women coaching next
I think the Paul Ince v Roy Keane comparison is an unfair one. They were two very different opportunities. Keane has a fair formiddable reputation as a person, not just a player and there's now a big Irish connection at that club
Keane got the job because he's Irish

It might have been deemed to be racist when Keane, during his hissy fit with then Ireland manager Mick McCarthy, called him an "English c**t" though.
A particularly nasty piece of work, Roy Keane. Racism is more than the colour of a person's skin.
