Did you spot it anywhere near you? We've got one in the woods at the back that's perching over our house most nights now.

Not this one. It's from a photo. We do okay for wildlife here though. Seen skeins of geese heading somewhere twice in the last week right over our roof, and there's a crane about sometimes. Heard one or two owls occasionally at night, and we can always tell when Mr Sparrowhawk comes visiting in the daytime. The silence is deafening. Get quite a few bats zooming about at night in the summer too.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Did you spot it anywhere near you? Hoping some of you might just recognise this area from your walks....

Camille Pissarro was a brilliant painter, called by some the Father of Impressionism. A fan of his work, particularly snow paintings, I copied this for practise and as a nod to his skill. An impression of an impression, if you will. The original is below.

I was just about to say I prefer it without the frame (and then I read what you wrote)
(I am viewing it on a phone after all)!

Seeing the little birds foraging about for food prompted this. Winter's coming and we can donate a little food to birds in our garden. Lots of them might not be so lucky. Tends to put the refugee plight into perspective.

^ You can't half paint fast. That's a surprisingly good likeness to say you've captured her just with the one photo. She quite often pauses and looks back and down on me with a smirk that says "come on, move it".

Not inviting snow, I don't even like it, just like painting it.

A bit more snow. Can't be any worse than the depressing stuff we're having right now. Did this yesterday from a photo of my old location in Walsden. Anything to cheer me up from the Super White's current plight.

Not knowing how long a life expectancy fox-hunting has and with no desire to start a debate on it, I thought I'd capture an impression of Holcombe Hunt for purely historical posterity reasons (well, mine) . This from a photograph of this year's December event at Rivington:

I tend to agree. My grandfather was Master of Fox Hounds (whatever that is) at the Holcombe Hunt and died of a heart attack while riding after the hounds. He was a golfer too and should have stuck to that noble sport.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Nice horse. Shit 'sport'.

Actually agree totally. Hunting of any sort is a thing of history and should be dire necessity only.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Nice horse. Shit 'sport'.
