great job Bruce! :-) you must have lost well over a stone by now?

after a very meagre loss last week (under 1lb) - this week I roared back with a 2.4lb loss!

this week will be a little different as I am off to Mevagissey for the week with the missus in a tiny cottage right by the harbour - several fine pubs with food within 5mins walk from the front door...

however - I have lost weight every single week since 22nd July, so I reckon I can take a week off and not worry too much about it!

Cheers. 22.6 lbs (and still fat).

You'll be on the left hand side of that BMI chart in a bit. Enjoy your week off. :)

10 bags of sugar!!! that will certainly make running easier! (if you don't believe me - try running whilst carrying ten bags of sugar tomorrow!) :D

this weight-loss thing can be a bit addictive - I am now eying up the possibility of the formerly impossible target of 11stone - after christmas some time...

I can give it up ny time - errr.. honest! 8)

Similarly, despite me enjoying cheese, chips, pizza and chocolate over the weekend for the first time in yonks, I've managed to budge a further two pounds this week. I'd truly resigned myself to having put weight on. A bit weird. :conf:

I have read, in a number of places, that 3x 5k runs a week is worth a kg of fat, give or take

Frankly, the reward isn't what it needs to be

Frankly, the reward isn't what it needs to be

Running at 5 mph burns .064 calories per minute per pound of body weight
Running at 6 mph burns .079 calories per minute per pound of body weight
Running at 10 mph burns .10 calories per minute per pound of body weight
Running at 12 mph burns .13 calories per minute per pound of body weight

if you do 5k in about half an hour - then give-or-take - you are a 6mph runner... - 0.079 calories/min/pound of body weight..

so - a 13stone person = 182lb, running for 30mins

calories for a 5k run = 0.079x182x30 = 431kcal

3 runs would be 1293 kcal

1lb of body fat = (approx) 3500 kcal

so your three runs lose you about half a pound by my reckoning - nowhere near a kilogram!! sorry! :D

I actually meant to type a lb and I did know it was a little less than a full lb

It does show that its more about diet than exercise

It is, but the afterglow of diet leaves you feeling mentally shitty, the exercise makes it feel good.

indeed! but it would be more than half a pound if you weighed more than 13stone and/or ran faster than a 10min mile!

if you want to burn calories - it pays to be fatter or faster! (or both!) :D

True, but then running makes me want to eat sensibly afterwards rather than undoing the work.

I suspect - given the figures quoted - that a hearty full-english breakfast after a park run more than undoes the good work! :-)
