I made the mistake, once upon a time, of watching M*A*S*H* while in the USA to find canned laughter all over the place. Utterly ruined it. I hadn't really noticed up to that point that the UK showings didn't have it. It just "was". The first few minutes of the show I watched were bewildering. A sort of "what's different?" till it hit me.
I saw that episode out but avoided the following ones ... & I'm a major fan.
