Given yourself plenty of time to train, I see.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

it seems as good a place/time to remember this guy - though I didn't know him - this was his first triathlon race...

the idea that there was one solitary unused bike after the swim section is a haunting image...

RIP Paul...

I was considering putting this in the RIP section. Well done for posting anyway.

Two of my friends from my club were at the race, which was abandoned after the bike leg, and every athlete stayed behind to help the search.

Very tragic. Fortunately rare.

Well if you're not going to put the hours in... :D

Funnily enough I was poised with my credit card this morning. Perhaps delirious at stringing a few long runs together I've entered my first ultra marathon. Entries opened this morning for 3rd July 2016. Doubt I'll be doing the park run on 16th July either :D

Way to go! It will be nice to have a little interest in it next year instead of moaning about all the biking roads they close off

It's in the Lakes. 110k that starts and finishes in Ambleside. I've got quite a bit of training to do

Do they do carbs?

Had a good result last night. The last Aquathlon of the series (of which I've attended all 5) brought a new PB for the course. It's a 500m swim followed by a 5.5k run. I did it in 38.53 (unofficial). Over the summer I've brought my time down by more than 3 minutes.

There's no escaping it. In the 3 years or so since I took swim coaching sessions I have not gotten much faster. However I can now swim over 2 miles whereas before I could swim 2 lengths. If you can be efficient in your swim you can catch someone on the run because you're fast.
