Wahey! Brilliant, well done BruceBruce Rioja wrote:Thought I'd prove all the health freaks on here, those with the temerity to criticise LeverEnd and I's technique of turning up whilst still half cut, wrong this week by carrying out a little comparison exercise.
So, nae booze all week - bugger of a 7.5K hilly training run in midweek. Healthy nosebag all week. Berries, banana and yogurt with only water to drink at 6:30 this morning. Early to the track for three warm-up laps plus stretching exercises.
Result: New PB
Told you so!

6 o'clock in the morning. What a thoroughly invigorating time to go for a quick (ahem) 5K

Yeah, the gloves are going to be out soon, What a time to run this morning was though. Not a cloud in the sky, dew laden gardens, the air as fresh as can be and barely a soul around. Felt bloody wonderful.
Well done on the run, Harry. Fancy slumming it round the PR anytime soon?

Decided I was going to attempt a 10k around the mean streets of Bury this evening. Went a bit Forrest Gump (more so than usual) and ran 11k.

Good stuff BP. I imagine your pace picked up round Dicky Bird estate?Burnden Paddock wrote:Decided I was going to attempt a 10k around the mean streets of Bury this evening. Went a bit Forrest Gump (more so than usual) and ran 11k.
You and Bruce are both setting the bar high this summer. No quitting when it starts raining or getting cold

I can see I'm going to have to up my game to stay ahead.
This weekend I'm off Oooop North for the Great North Run. Did it three years ago in 1hr 37mins.
I suspect I'm going to be a LOT slower on Sunday. Still, I'm just foundation building for Ironman so it's about the distance, not the time.
Who the feck am I trying to kid, if I don't do under 1hr 50mins I'll be gutted

Re: The athletics/running thread
I know what you mean. The sensible approach would be just to pootle along at a steady pace and get round as IM prep. Whereas your ego will be shouting "C'mon, we can do this!" Good luck budGary the Enfield wrote: I can see I'm going to have to up my game to stay ahead.

This personal training I've been doing is something of an eye opener. I'm aching and stretching parts all over and the following morning it's a struggle to get down the street. By mid afternoon I'm bouncing and ready for a run again. Hopefully, it's starting to work

Well so far, I'd say do it. The difference from being in say a pilates or yoga class is the 1 to 1 attention. If your posture isn't correct he's soon on it. If it gets me on the start line next July it will be worth every penny.

11 seconds slower than last week's PB on a pissed wet through course. It'll do.

Nice one Bruce and GtE. BP - you're dead to me too now!
How did it feel Enfield? Running at a much slower pace than you're capable of, was it comfortable? Any tweaks or owt? We're in Wales at the moment and set off for Newborough Warren today only to find out, when we were halfway there, the beach was closed due to the Sand man triathlon. Bloody triathletes
