Has done what exactly to deserve his MBE?

Zara Phillips gets one as well. Had anyone actually heard of her before BBC Sports Personality?

For his performance in the FA Cup Final and being PFA Player of the Year.

Not that that should constitute an MBE but they are handed out willy nilly these days.

And I still insist he wasn't the best player on the park.

And it really is sad when an MBE is handed out for a man-of-the-match award. Perhaps just because he's "high profile"...

It's a joke

Surely footballers should only be given awards if they've performed particularly well whilst representing their country, no?

Nat Lofthouse v Stevie G?

Remind me, who is it that gets to recommend the vote winners, I mean candidates?

Nice to see some cleaning ladies, post and milkmen and lollipop persons getting MBE's, so Gerrard is in good company. 8)

I remember when I was a kid and it was even showed in the Spanish news when a football player got MBE. The implications of service to the game and your country were big.

"Ooooooooooooooooh, Peter Beardsley is MBE damn he must be great".

Now they give them out like cheap candy, imho.

"Ooooooooooooooooh, Steven Gerrard who did... what? Beat the shots off target record in the last WC?" (Lampard might own this one, though).
Barça fan that loves a team in white

She's the Queen's granddaughter so she had a good sponsor for both awards. The Queen also approves the list put up by the Prime Minister, so perhaps she is a Liverpool supporter as well. :D
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Nothing at all, I'd imagine. Considered a job as a postman once. Well, anything's better than walking the streets.
