Pull Tiger Tail on the Radio 1 stage? They must be fecking desperate, they were absolute gash when I saw them (supporting Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly). Couldn't believe that they'd headlined their own gig at the Academy in Liverpool. Dirge.

came back yesterday night. Fookin awesome. Of the bands I saw KOL, PB and J, Maccabees, Hot Hot Heat and Arcade Fire were all amazing.

Comedy highlight goes to the guy on saturday who was dancing outside the beer amnesty tent, looking the spits of Richard Ashcroft. After failing to catch his attention with cries of 'ASHCROFT!' we decided to take turns bumping into him like in the BitterSweet Symphony video. The bloke still ignored us and was dancing away like nowt had happened. This mystery was solved when the Verve wannabe piped out in a languid mancunian accent: 'Got any pills?'

finis.

Kings of Leon were great. It's weird considering they look younger now with their haircuts than when they first started though. The only problem was I was near the front and got trampled on a few times. Surfed out for charmer and then enjoyed Slow Night, So Long for the finale. It struck me they didnt play California Waiting, which is a big compliment to them as despite playing one of their imo best songs they had the crowd eating out of their laps. Gawd knows how Razorlight got on ahead of them.

HHH we're better than I thought they would be. Caught them at the ritz a few years ago in Manchester and they weren't that great. Completely owned the stage at leeds though. Hope you enjoy them.

By all reports though, they were ending a two year tour with the Reading and Leeds festivals, and one of the band seriously needs an operation on his ankle, from what their pimped up coach driver was telling me. Personaly I found thought the whole weekend was just a lot of noise (old fart etc), I only really knew the Smashing Pumpins, and they were shite/tired/couldn't be arsed.

That's not far off the truth yeah. To say that I, and the vast majority of the crowd it seemed, were pissed off with their performance is somewhat of an understatement. A huge band like Chilis should be playing their hit singles when it comes to playing a festival, not arsing around with improvs and playing filler tracks from their latest album. Missing out 'Under The Bridge' and 'Scar Tissue' was criminal.

they dont play under the bridge any more because they want to break out of that phase. Reading got Scar Tissue but not Otherside like us which I much prefer. All in all they were awesome

Best set I saw was probably Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip in the dance tent. Not usually my sort of thing (poetry/rapping over dance beats), but Scroobius Pips lyrics are amazing.
