so he is out of jail then? Where were you last night? You missed the ginge convention.
Jimmy is drumming as great as ever with the Pumpkins and seems to be on the straight and narrow these days!!
Unfortunately I couldn't make the ginge convention, I feel I let my fellow gingers down - I worked late and made a taxi stop so didn't get parked up till 30 minutes before kick off, only just made it in for the game!! :? Did I miss much?
only a menagerie of ginges and me feeling the effects of a few shandies.

I knew someone would find the Tony Royster Jnr solo.

Most of the drums of the Queens of the Stone Age record Songs for the Deaf are processed and were not recorded live, they were sampled sounds and put into place.

Grohl could do it live though - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLgqOdVuRPA
new guy couldn't - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haWVIasl ... re=related

That QOTSA show from '02 Glastonbury looked absolutely phenomenal, set list wise.

I'm sorry. The sound of my laughter at his get up drowned out the sound of what I don't doubt was an excellent example of top tub-thumpery.

Thanks Dr Hotdog, I thought no one was going to mention Dave Grohl re QOTSA.

Agree with Marshall 42 about the classic rock drummers. In particular Mitch Mitchell, who was in a category of his own as a jazz influenced player, should receive more credit.

I play, got a Arbiter flat kit and a Yamaha electric kit, been playing for about a year, I'm a big fan of Bloc Partys drumming, Hunting for Witches has brilliant drumming. Dave Grohl was brilliant as a drummer, I think he still drums for Tenacious D, but he's even better since Foo Fighters.

That's interesting. For me, Bloc Party's drummer makes a half decent band un-listenable. He seems to feel the need to hit his entire kit within every bar as though that's in some way impressive. The guy sounds like he's knocking a shed together to me.

On some tracks the drumming sounds great and really improves the song, on others it just sounds aimless and random like he's a kid making it up as he goes along

he plays alot of double hi-hat rythms which may explain why it sounds like that. As for the band they are one of my favorites. Unfortunately for drummers, the good ones don't stand out as much as guitarists, they seem to get put in a corner.

Came across this mash-up the other day. One of the best bits of drumming ever mixed with a bit of Johnny Cash (and a Beatles solo thrown if for good measure).

You can download the mp3 for free at the link below
