you weren't disappointed by the final battle? was nice of the SS to stop shooting at them while they chilled out and supped some whiskey in the tank for a bit...

I enjoyed The Theory of Everything but not as much as I did the Imitation Game. That is probably because I'm more into the science-y bit than the love side but did think Redmayne really was fantastic!

Also got round to seeing the Hunger Games yesterday and wish I hadn't bothered, what a waste of time! Load of Marxists talking in the dark. They've got the biggest name in Hollywood and wasted her in this film. In the hunt for a review which agreed with my opinion it seems "they" did the same stalling tactics with the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises and with similar results.

Well yes, it was noted but I put it down to artistic licence! Tarantinoesque.

Watched Safe House, a two thousand bullet job. Confused plot but plenty action and some decent acting from Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

Just watched "Headhunters". A Norwegian film with sub-titles. Blood and shxt by the waggonload. Odd plot but decently acted (by folk I've never heard of). All a bit unlikely as a plot, but I watched it through.

I've seen that. Written by Harry Hole creator Jo Nesbo, and starring Jamie Lannister from Game of thrones. Given how much I rate those two I thought it was pretty average but not bad.

I just watched the finale of The Leftovers, a very strange series that I really enjoyed. Great suspense and drama and excellent performances full of melancholy and outright tragedy in places. Not a cheerful watch but highly recommended.

Hmm. My DVD player's packed up. Is it worth me buying a blue ray jobbie? Are they appreciably different? Can I still play my old DVDs on one? Or are even these things 'old hat' now?

I used to have the same way of thinking Bruce, but on purchasing a BluRay player, it was totally evident how better the picture was and gave a new enjoyment to watching DVDs. Definitely worth getting one and you can watch your old DVDs on it too.

^ Yep, big difference but only if your TV is up to it. You can pick BluRay player up for £50 now too.

Is it bigger than your bookcase?

Haha. No. But I can watch Jezza in HD and pause it to do a scratchcard.

You've missed the first f*cking five you mean!

Isn't it ace though? If for nothing else than sitting on the sofa repeating the word engrenage in even more preposterously faux-French just to annoy the GF. And it works. Which is ace.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
