Re: What are you watching tonight?
Early sitting at Filmworks in town for Anthropoid, which was the code word for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich in 1942 Prague, a story that deserved telling and done really, really well. The cinema-photography is magnificent and creative throughout. Not seen a film about the war for years but this was worth waiting for.

Not tonight, but got tickets to watch Yusuf/Cat Stevens on my birthday. A bargain compared to Paul Simon!

Stick a comment up when you've been as to what it is like if you will mate. Long time fan of his music of the past.Beefheart wrote:Not tonight, but got tickets to watch Yusuf/Cat Stevens on my birthday. A bargain compared to Paul Simon!

Will do. Have you heard any of the albums he's released as Yusuf in the last decade or so? I think you'd like them if not.TANGODANCER wrote:Stick a comment up when you've been as to what it is like if you will mate. Re: What are you watching tonight?
Very much looking forward to this 'National Treasure' with Robbie Coltrane which starts next Tuesday. The trailers look excellent - hope it lives up to them.
Also - from LF I have a film called Mustang, which requires all of my attention because it's in Turkish with subtitles. It's one of very few films that I've ever ordered up on the strength of having seen a trailer.
You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustang_(film" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

In truth, maybe only odd tracks. I have so much music of all sorts now that a lifetime (mine, at least) would be needed to play it all. It does highlight the benefites of Youtube though.Beefheart wrote:Will do. Have you heard any of the albums he's released as Yusuf in the last decade or so? Mention of Paul Simon triggered Simon and Garfunkel, triggered Scarboro Fair. I listened to "Gregorian" doing both that and Lady D'Arbanville. Not everybody's cup of hemlock, but I like Gregorian for a change....Beefheart wrote:Not tonight, but got tickets to watch Yusuf/Cat Stevens on my birthday. A bargain compared to Paul Simon!

Last night, watched "Fifty Dead Men Walking", a taut politically influenced I.R.A drama based around a true story. Similar to Clive Owen's "Shadow Dancer" and well worth a watch.

am a few episodes into season two of Narcos...
I knew it was bad - but the sheer scale of the killing and bloodshed and violence around Escobar and the cartel was mindblowing... they reckon Escobar's men killed about 400 police officers every year...

^ In a similar vein, we've just seen the last one (series 2) of Gomorrah. What a fantastic series. Only bettered by the Sopranos imo

Just finished The Night Of. Highly recommend for performances, genuine mystery and a bleak insight into the US judical system that still shows the humanity of people within it.

Went to watch Ahir Shah's stand-up show on Tuesday. He's just done Edinburgh to rave reviews and I can see why. Fantastic stuff. Little bit of the modern world weaved around politics. If you get chance, check him out. Definitely an up-and-comer. Briefly met Nish Kumar afterwards too which was cool.
