Here's the big question, do your supermarkets have toilets? Not a thing in this that London even in the actual supermarkets (rather then express). Not sure if it's a London, or Southern thing.

The ‘big’ two do in our nearest town but the small village co-op doesn’t (but does have public ones just round the corner). I wonder why it’s not a thing in London. Maybe because there are more public loo’s in cities?

If they have any kind of eating area then it's a legal requirement.

I used to visit frequently as I managed a vendor relationship with ma company there. Bloody planes and a busy roundabout are my memory, faded as it may be.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:50 pm25 minutes drive from here and that’s all we are known for?!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:29 pmMight as well just say Gatwick AirportBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:32 amThe Lake District, the Peak District, the Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorks National Park, Northumbria and all of Scotland have just been on and asked me to call you an ignorant southern numpty. You're in the wrong part of London
All the supermarkets (not locals or directs) had toilets in. All of 'em. I'm very confused right now.

Motorways, G.G.particularly the M1 and M6 are fine from South to North (and back again); Trouble is, they miss a whole world of greenery en-route, like the Midlands, Wales, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire to name a few. Next time you're up here I'd recommend The Calder Valley and a trip to Haworth, home of the Brontes'. A summer pilgrimage taking in the Morris Dancers and The Bronte Parsonage Museum culminating up Haworth main street to the fish and chip shop at the top is a day well spent. Plenty beverages available at The Black Bull etc. (I'm talking a while back so not sure what's what today mind? ) But that's just one...How green was my valley...etc?Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:53 amng! I’m well aware there are some wild, beautiful parts too, I just didn’t see them (blame my tour guide ).

I can confirm absolutely, Tango, the number of times they've dug up both in the last 20 years, with associated diversions, regular road warriors have seen plenty of the surrounding countryside. Usually at less than walking pace.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 1:17 pmMotorways, G.G.particularly the M1 and M6 are fine from South to North (and back again); Trouble is, they miss a whole world of greenery en-route, like the Midlands, Wales, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire to name a few. Planes? At an airport? How very dare they!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:57 pmI used to visit frequently as I managed a vendor relationship with ma company there. Anyway, the planes don’t pass anywhere near us and I haven’t been abroad since before the kids were born. I spent some of my teenage years messing about in the terminals with mates, eating Mcdonalds and riding the monorail but grown up a bit now, so my contact with the airport is limited to driving past the turn off on my way north on the A23. Lot more to Sussex then Gatwick Airport should you ever visit again. We have train stations too!

Thank you! You even got to see a decent football team win. The one which your youngest now supports when he’s in Bolton and referred to as ‘we’!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:49 pmTbf he did a very good job in just a few days. We had a great time.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I can vouch that there’s much more than Gatwick Airport to Sussex. Been to lots of lovely places. Worth it for one of their bonfire nights alone, where health and safety goes out the window for one night. I’ve managed to convince GG that treacle toffee and parkin are worthy northern accompaniments for the event, but she’s not having black peas. Weirdo!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:22 pmPlanes? At an airport?
