The post. The wife posted a birthday card with money included, to a young kid my daughter fosters, not five miles away. She posted it first-class on the 31st of Jan for his birthday on Feb 2nd, address and postcode all carefully checked before ending. Daughter rang up today to say it arrived this morning.

using the postal system to get something less than 5miles away seems a bit bonkers to me...

Really? So you deliver all your mail peronally? Wow! You might not if you knew much about the bus services between where I live in Farnworth and the outer reaches of Ringley and don't have your own transport anyway, I no longer do.

I also ran a mail room for seventeen years, most of which time the Royal Mail got first class letters there next day. Young kids, being under ten, also tend to like to get cards through the letterbox on their birthdays. Might be seen as old-fashioned in Essex I suppose.

wimmin on maternity leave have all day to go shopping - the rest of us don't - therefore we should get to park closer!
