Trainers

Post by The Masked Weasel » Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:56 pm

The missus is taken me out tomorrow to get me a present for my birthday. I fancy a shiney new pair of 'going out' trainers but I don't know what to get. What trainers tickle the wanderers fancy?

Have a look at Ted Baker trainers. Some of them are a bit poncey, but some of them are the absolute dog's. They're only about £50-£60 as well, so they're not as much as you'd expect. I bought some about 18 months ago, and they're the best fitting, nicest looking "out" trainers I've ever had.

You wear trainers for going "out"? Eek.
Only Joking cos I'm old fashioned. I've only ever owned two pairs of trainers, an old pair of Arrow (which I use for gardening and have to admit they're the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn) and a pair of Umbro I bought in a sale last year. Ideal for golf where soft spikes only are allowed. No expert then...

REEBOK. I go to the Reebok outlet. Don't know if you all have them. How could any self respecting Bolton fan not get a pair of Reeboks?

The fact that they don't make good trainers?

Sportswear wise, I don't do anything other than Adidas, unless told to by employing club. They seem to be the only manufacturer who haven't lost sight of the fact that black football boots are still the best, and that all these silly flourescent ones aren't the be-all and end-all. And their trainers are always more comfortable than anything else.

I never touch Nike. Too busy trying to change the concept of trainers and losing sight of the fact that they're trainers rather than interactive roller skate tops.

If you want going out shoes then stay away from the main scally brands like Adidas, Reebok, Nike etc and go for something with more of a designer name.

Why on Earth would anyone need 'trainers'? At a guess 'peer pressure'?

Oh yes, I forgot, that dreadful 'marketing' hyperbole.

The best way to get your feet/calves/legs working properly is to run/walk/sprint in bare feet. After all that's what they are there for!

Should the snow and ice or heat be a bit much for the softness of your poor pedestals then wear flat soles to insulate yourself from those conditions. Wimps! Honestly!

Bare feet and Bradshawgate don't exactly seem good companions Dujon.

It's a treat, after you've picked out the glass and needles from your feet, to know that at least you didn't bow to peer pressure and wear shoes.

I got these Paul Smith ones earlier this year and love them. Not cheap, but great.

As for trainers for running, I never look past Asics. So so comfortable.

It's true, though - bare feet are the "natural" answer.

And, just like shoes, cars and planes and unnatural. I walk, run and swim everywhere. I need to get a move on to get to tomorow's match, though.

As for peer pressure - it just shows that the house of lords have nothing better to do with their time.

A comforting thought - post - standing on an upturned plug, and no mistake.

They sell all manner of clobber, including some decent trainers, at When We Were Casuals.

My sister once had to have a dog brush removed from her foot. I blame the softness of her feet on shoes.
