The Trashy Tabloid Thread.

Post by Prufrock » Thu Jul 22, 2010 10:18 pm

I said I wouldn't do it, but new developments have changed my mind. This is the place to put all the tabloid balls, the mistakes, the over-exaggerations, and the downright lies.

Yesterday on the angry thread, I posted this story. A story about how (my life got flipped turned upside down) the Daily Star, in a feat of journalistic integrity and good taste not seen since Hillsbrough completely made up a story about 'sick' games producers Rockstar making a 'Grand Theft Auto- Rothbury' edition inspired by the Raoul Moat tragedy. It also claimed there were plans for a film, and a book. There was no evidence for this. They made the entire story up. This might seem at first seem ridiculous, even amusing, until you consider they interviewed the grandmother of Moat's ex-girlfriend, one of his victims, and asked for her opinions on a made up story, that they had made up, which affected her badly injured relative. Classy.

Now it turns out, the 'journalist' who wrote the story, Jerry Lawton, has hit back at the fury of gamers who had seen yet another attack on the gaming industry, this time a completely made up one.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

This.

Whatever he's on about.

Should be banned. Everything should be banned.

Except the things that shouldn't.

Here's an apology from the Mail...
An article on 12 April referred to reports which suggested Marlon King had converted to Islam in prison, his hero was hate preacher Abu Hamza and cocaine had been found in his cell.

In fact, these reports were untrue and we apologise for any contrary impression that may have been given.

"contrary impression"???? you mean "bare-faced lie" surely?

it seems to be the phrase du jour....
Our story of February 21 ‘Chelsea helped Cole to silence claims of affair’, may have suggested that Chelsea FC and Steve Atkins, Head of Communications, encouraged a woman to lie by denying, falsely, that she had slept with a player.

In fact, there was no encouragement to lie and any advice was given to the woman in good faith on the understanding that the allegations were untrue. We apologise to Mr Atkins and Chelsea for any contrary impression given.

both of these from http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.com/ the go-to place for analysis of tabloid crap.

I think the story is that she never was married to him - that is, before she married him...

Do we really need to know Katie Price is giving up on music? Might even make sense if it said music is giving up on Katie Price.

The divorce of Katie Price and Peter Andre was the saddest day of my life.

I wept for their pain for a week.

If only the rest of the world were as kind, wise and beautiful as those two, it would be a better place.

She, not Diana, is the true Queen of Hearts.

I know. And every day I weep for her, too.

on page two of the Sun last thursday..

We reported on Saturday that Wayne Rooney was spending £10,000 on under floor heating for luxury dog kennels at his Cheshire home.

In fact, there are no dog kennels at his home and thus no under floor heating has been installed. We apologise for the mistake.
