Never a favourite of mine, but sad anyway. R.I.P.Salford Trotter wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11473192

Well, I only saw him in the 1950s and enjoyed his films as light entertainment. I never saw him later so cannot comment on Bruce's growing maturity or Norman's failing comedic powers. His were the only western films allowed into Albania, when it was a totally closed society (except to Chairman Mao) - I never understood that.Bruce Rioja wrote:I used to find him hilarious when I was a young boy, but found him less so as I got older to a point of drawing the same conclusion as you, WilliamWilliam the White wrote:He wasn't actually very funny though. Was he?

I loved him when I was a nipper. Especially that scene in a stitch in time when he was bandaged like a mummy on top of the ambulance.William the White wrote:He wasn't actually very funny though. Was he?
Well I was only 5 or 6.

No. What's sad is Freddie F*ckin' Starr made a career out of mimicking him and thus diluting the genius. The c*nt.ratbert wrote:Add me to the Norman Wisdom not being funny list. Even as a little 'un he did nothing for me.
What was really embarrassing was the way he'd guest on TV shows in the 80s and still keep behaving the same way.
Wasn't just the 80s mate, he was still turning up at charity golf days and the like in the Isle of Man this century and playing the same act.ratbert wrote:Add me to the Norman Wisdom not being funny list. Even as a little 'un he did nothing for me.

I'd say though, having met him, his act was to cover what seemed to be a really shy guy, it saved him having to interact normally with people which he seemed to find difficult.

It amazes me also, but if they're not out already then no doubt the just-in-time-for-Christmas DVDs will be along soon.BWFC_Insane wrote:Now my serious question here is, who does?Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't find Lee Evans funny either who, to me, is a modern day version of the same (but sweatier).
I'd only ever consider buying one for someone that I didn't particularly like.

I'm pretty much in this camp. When you were 5,6,7,8 and he was on at the pictures, I found it funny.InsaneApache wrote:I loved him when I was a nipper. Well I was only 5 or 6.
Soon as you got a bit older, it wore thin fairly quickly.
