We found a luxury villa for 21 in Portugal but it would have to be school holidays, which means flights are around £250 each. The idea was to pay for the villa, beer and food for the week, but for folk to pay for their flights. That meant a grand for some. Bloody nightmare trying to find a week that everyone could make as well and we would then have transfers from the airport etc to sort. Thanks for the tips folks. No doubt there'll be an update at some stage!
Madder than a mad woman who thinks mad people are out to get them mad .... & that is very mad indeed.

Well in, Bob.
That's both you and your Kid batting above your averages. Fair play.

To be fair Bruce, in Our Kid's case it's more that my lovely sister in law is batting well below hers.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Cheers. What can I say? I've lived life to the full. It's certainly not been boring.
For those of you who chose well the first time, I congratulate you. However, for those of you who are miserable, facing an empty nest with someone you no longer have anything in common with, life is too short and there's endless possibilities out there.

And probably like myself Clappers, you found that your mate's wives treated your situation as though it were a disease their husbands might catch. A bloke I'd known well for 15 years blanked me in the street and continues to do so. Sad, but true. It's as though my actions held a mirror up to their own unhappiness.

Yep, similar. I had a life long friend who decided to support the other half whilst just two other friends showed me the support I needed. I've not spoken to the first since then, and I'm told he wonders why. You soon find who your friends really are.

Perhaps I'm lucky but neither our children nor our mutual friends seemed to take sides. Possibly because our divorce was largely of the "no fault" variety - at least publicly. So no cold shoulders over here.clapton is god wrote:Yep, similar. I had a life long friend who decided to support the other half whilst just two other friends showed me the support I needed. Congratulations BB...I wish you both all the luck and happiness for your future togetherBijou Bob wrote:Not Mrs Bob has very kindly consented to becoming Mrs Bob. I'm very happy about this. I am however, not very happy about the quotes I've been getting from wedding venues. Twice yesterday I had to sit down whilst gulping air and fighting a rising feeling of panic.
I mentioned this to my daughter who thought I was joking as her best friend, and I quote directly here, "Spent more than that on her dress". Its a different world out there.....
