It reminded me of Belloc's poem:Lord Kangana wrote:Interestingly, it was from a French review of a Spanish wine. So 10/10
Similarly, I also discovered torrefaction only last year in the same way.
"And the fleas that tease in the High Pyrenees,
And the wine that tasted of tar?"
Torrefaction is a new one on me. The art of making bulls?
"If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names. " Elbert Hubbard.

I'm guessing that's either Madiran or Cahors.
Torrefaction (in wine) is the roasted/toasted flavours (similar to coffee and cocoa) that are generally imparted (so my understanding goes) from oak that has been charred - a widespread practice when making barrels.

I took one for the team and took a look. I wish I'd gone to Raqqa for a weekend break instead.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I may well be guilty as charged, but that one is nothing to do with me!
I'm sure I read about it on here.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
Today was another one of those potentially very difficult days in the Hopeful household. Both sons decided to take their driving tests on the same day!!
There's 18 months between them in age and they're like chalk and cheese in many respects. #1 son wasn't really interested in learning, whereas #2 son was really keen and learnt much quicker than his brother.
Good news is that they both passed!
Well done lads!

There's something rather satisfying about getting the ink dry on a huge new Contract. Business not personal. I predict there might be a hangover tomorrow.

On the back of a huge new business deal I scored in December, I currently find myself of interest to head-hunters once again. I'm enjoying playing the whore.Worthy4England wrote:There's something rather satisfying about getting the ink dry on a huge new Contract. Business not personal. I can quite reasonably say to myself, "I will never play the whore."Bruce Rioja wrote: On the back of a huge new business deal I scored in December, I currently find myself of interest to head-hunters once again. I'm enjoying playing the whore.
