On my mum's 60th, just for a laugh, I bought her a bus pass holder. She didn't find it funny. Oh no, not one bit.Prufrock wrote:My mum's cousin has sent her a happy 60th birthday card. That sings. Two years early.
I've been laughing for about half an hour.

I'm very happy that I'm sat in Weatherspoons at what I'm sure is Bobo's favourite airport (John Lennon) with 35 minutes to boarding. Eastern Algarve, fresh sea bream and Superbok, ill be with you shortly.

I have free parking there so it's OK I guess.Bijou Bob wrote:I'm very happy that I'm sat in Weatherspoons at what I'm sure is Bobo's favourite airport (John Lennon) with 35 minutes to boarding. Eastern Algarve, fresh sea bream and Superbok, ill be with you shortly.
Enjoy the Algarve. Have you left NQ Mrs Bob at home or taken her with you ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

My Mum looks a lot like her sister, but is 10 years older. At Mum's 50th my mate came in, kissed my 40 year old aunty on the cheek and wished her a happy 50th. Never seen such a forced smile.Bruce Rioja wrote:On my mum's 60th, just for a laugh, I bought her a bus pass holder. She didn't find it funny. My Dad's mum lived to be 98, sadly outliving two of here own children (including my Dad) and one of my cousins.
So you're ducking Fulham away again then? I know that the ale in the Eight Bells is a little pricey but the lengths that some people are prepared to go to..............

Re: Today I'm happy about......
I carefully planned the trip to avoid football! Fulham away is one of my favourites though. Would love a decent pint. The hotel I just spent 4 nights at was bereft of ale, so I'm hoping tonight's airport hotel does better. Not holding much hope as it's a French chainBruce Rioja wrote:Congrat's to your Nan, Fella.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I'm in the UK. Heading back to the desert tomorrow. Re: Today I'm happy about......
Went to the in laws for tea on Easter Sunday. Family get togethers there have been a bit sad lately as the MiL has early signs of dementia which seems to have progressed at each subsequent meet up. Usually, despite everyone's best efforts she spends the evening in her own world largely oblivious to what's going on around her.
Any road, last night my nephews were playing around with Spotify and putting old tunes on for their Gran. Her face lit up almost immediately at one of the tunes and for a brief while she was singing along and laughing uproariously. It was only a glimpse of the woman she used to be but it was lovely to see.

Is that you and NYC done then, Chief? It's possibly the only city that I've ever visited (and I suppose I'm more traveled than most) that's dropped my jaw and made me think - 4uck - one day I NEED to live here. I'm really interested to learn your thoughts after, what is it, 12, 18 months after you went out there?KeyserSoze wrote:Booking my flight home. Returning to god's country early June.
