On the positives Prior showed what he can do batting in his right position. Still too many out of touch in the top order though going into a major tournament for us to be considered amongst the favourites. Still, anything is better than a Luke Wright in there.

Prior is still abit hit and miss glad in made a decent knock maybe he will gain some confidence, Trott has become the key player in the team at the moment not sure why they dropped him down the order for today's game, maybe hoping some of the out of form batsman would spend more time in the middle, although that seemed to fail.jimbo wrote:On the positives Prior showed what he can do batting in his right position. I'd recall Bopara for Luke Wright......

Prior needs a settled position at 6 but for some reason we have this theory that our wicketkeeper also needs to open the batting. In Australia we lost early wickets far too often which then exposed the middle order too early and we were unable to build enough big scores. It'll be interesting to see who adapts to the Indian conditions best though. Got a feeling that Yardy is going to be one of England's key players this tournament both for his batting and bowling.Latham8wfc wrote:Prior is still abit hit and miss glad in made a decent knock maybe he will gain some confidence, Trott has become the key player in the team at the moment not sure why they dropped him down the order for today's game, maybe hoping some of the out of form batsman would spend more time in the middle, although that seemed to fail.jimbo wrote:On the positives Prior showed what he can do batting in his right position. Is Swann back from injury??? Yes I agree think Yardy is a very under-rated bowler and IF Swann is back they are very good bowling in tandem during the middle over’s. Also agree about Prior and wicketkeeper/openers, Kieswetter (sp), Davies and Prior think we are trying to emulate a certain Mr Gilchrist without as much success....jimbo wrote:Prior needs a settled position at 6 but for some reason we have this theory that our wicketkeeper also needs to open the batting. Re: ODI world cup...
If you think England's got selector problems they're nothing against the Australian lot. In its recent 'warm-up' match the Aussies copped an absolute drubbing. Their opponents (S.Af) were doing it so easily when chasing a mediocre total that the two opening batsmen retired themselves to let the next couple of batsmen have time at the crease. I bet that hurt a few green and gold egos.

So we let Netherlands get 292, good work boys. They're not even a proper fooking team. And how come that South African's not playing for us?

Unsurprisingly we're getting gubbed by India. They're 165/1 off 28.
Re: ODI world cup...
indeed.. have been listening to the mounting gubbing! Tendulka gives a masterclass in understated steely run-getting... they are just starting to cut loose now - with nine wickets in hand and more batting to come than you could shake a stick at...superjohnmcginlay wrote:Unsurprisingly we're getting gubbed by India. 300 plus I reckon...
time for pieterson to step up to the plate - hope he's taking notes on tendulkar's performnce...

Exciting conclusion - quite a game.

Re: ODI world cup...
Just a bit.
Thought we'd struggle, then half way through the batting, we looked to be crusing, then looked like we'd completely fecked it, but a tie will do I guess.
