I am sure HG would be well up for this too!Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 8:17 amIf you want me to put a training programme together, including proper warm up and cool down sessions, I'd be happy to. Back to basics. It'd help me too as I've just taken a Leader in Running Fitness course and I could use you two for practice.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 2:35 pmJust been to Rammy. Felt both guilty and deflated seeing all the 'Impending Road Closure' signs out for this Sunday's Bury 10K.
In the New Year, Boyo, we HAVE to make a start on the long road back.

Hope I can sort it for the weekend when I'm up for a 5km race in Bromley Cross.
Anybody else getting out and about?
Erm. No!

Sounds like a plan. If you miss out the warm up and cool down. Seriously though, anything that can incentivise me to get back at it would be appreciated.

I was thinking more of: Look out of window at the weather; tell yourself it's a bit chilly/rainy/snowy; convince yourself that the walk to the window was a new PB.

Aye. Sacking it all off and going for breakfast seems a much more sensible idea!

Sounds good. Make it we three test-cases as Morag's up for a restart too.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 8:17 am

Okay. I'll look at starting it first week in the New Year. I'll rope Mrs. GtE in too so Morag doesn't feel outnumbered.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 5:54 pmSounds good. Make it we three test-cases as Morag's up for a restart too.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 8:17 am

Re: The athletics/running thread
Anyone got any sport related New Years resolutions then?! Last year was one of my worst for getting out running in ages. I’d like to say this year will be better but motivation is seriously lacking! I may join the leisure centre and get to some fitness classes instead!

Determined (sort of) to get back to running this year. Couple planned this midweek and a return to Parkrun on Saturday, followed by the obligatory breakfast.

I've spent way too long doing very little other than piling the pounds on, so it's back to square one here.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:20 amAnyone got any sport related New Years resolutions then?! GtE did mention he's looking for scholars, so I'll cut his work out for him

Re: The athletics/running thread
So I’ve done no running, but I have joined the leisure centre! This week I’ve done a grit class (so unfit!) a spin class (could barely walk afterwards) and a Pilates/yoga/tai chi mash up this morning so feeling virtuous. Wonder how long before the novelty wears off!

First proper run in 6 weeks yesterday. The lurgy hasn't left completely so it was a bit stop/ start. However, it was a run.

My HIIT class today was still a half hour of torture but slightly less so then last week! Must persist!

Daughter did her first pole vault competition today so new pb - and a club record, she really enjoyed it! One of England Athletics more random licensed competition venues, a big barn on a farm in the middle of nowhere!

Fair feck*! Well done to her.
Something I've always wondered - how do you start pole vault? Like, that first go surely there's a pretty high chance you come boinging bank where you came from, from 10 feet up?
