This november - Vienna.
Sounds like beer and Klimt and classical music might feature. And the Opera house has 600 (!) standing tickets for sale nightly at 7 Euros.
The programme so far has include Madrid, Bruges, Amsterdam, Porto, Seville, Cordoba - we take it in turn to choose.
Back from Portugal and a week in 29 degree sunshine. Only fly in the ointment is that the in laws are trying to sell the villa. Flight from the charming Blackpool airport, shed loads of monkfish, langoustine and piri-piri chicken and 4 beers for less than 4 Euros. The eastern Algarve rocks.

Exactly what I thought. Sell that place women keep bringing cats into and have a villa in the sun.Burnden Paddock wrote:Buy it??Bijou Bob wrote:You're either not old enough or too much of a peasant BruceBruce Rioja wrote:Maybe I'll get invited along one day. Re: Summer Holidays
There's a little place down by the harbour, where a fisherman has had a café for years. Last year he cottoned on that there were a few tourists about and put some tables and chairs out. He advertised 3 courses with unlimited drinks for 10 euros and he's full every day. You can choose from the fish he caught that morning, so we had a mixed platter of sardines, swordfish, xpeuita and salmon. Absolutely historic. Finished with a Liquor Beirout and a double espresso.William the White wrote:No sardines, you tasteless peasant?Bijou Bob wrote:You're either not old enough or too much of a peasant BruceBruce Rioja wrote:Maybe I'll get invited along one day. If I'm thinking of the right place, is there a few pics with various footy players dining there hanging on the walls? Iniesta, Xavi, Scholes, Pirlo?Bijou Bob wrote:There's a little place down by the harbour, where a fisherman has had a café for years. I booked next years last weekend.
Yesterday, I got an e-mail from the travel agents.
It said "ONLY 10 MONTHS TO YOUR HOLIDAY - BOOK YOUR CURRENCY WITH US TODAY!"
Really?

Re: Summer Holidays
I do tend to moan a bit about living in the desert sometimes, but I am lucky that one of the nearest holiday destinations to me is the Maldives. I'm not a fan of long distance flying, so I'll probably not go again one I've moved back to Europe. With that in mind, we're trying to go as much as possible whilst we're here. So, this lucky boy is off here in less than a month...
Then in May we're going to...
Then hopping on a seaplane to here...
So next time I'm whining just remind me how lucky I am, as it'll be back to windswept Llandudno soon enough!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Blimey. Any sign of Ricardo Montalban and an irritating little guy who keeps calling him 'Boss'?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I do tend to moan a bit about living in the desert sometimes, but I am lucky that one of the nearest holiday destinations to me is the Maldives. Ha ha. No, just loads of tripod toting Chinese and Boss t-shirt wearing Russians I'm afraid.EverSoYouri wrote:

It's amazing people watching there. You get all the Chinese honeymooners in their matching outfits posing on the beaches for 6 hour photo sessions before moving on to a new resort for a couple of days. They spend so much time recording every moment that they never really see the place. All so they can show everyone what an ace honeymoon they had The Russian men usually in a t-shirt 4 sizes too small, with jewellery to make Mr T jealous, usually shouting into their mobile phone whilst leering at their rather young scantily clad companion. You can spot the Brits as we're scowling and shaking out heads in only the way Brits can

Short break booked for annual mid-October hol in Southwold, Suffolk. Not been to this part of the country previously so very much looking forwards to it. Small B&B with luxury room. Hell of a drive to get there though.

similarly... (but - November!) - we've booked a tiny cottage in Mevagissey (right by the harbour) for a few days... gone are the days when we have to find somewhere to sleep 5 - now it's just the two of us... cheaper though, as it doesn't have to be in half-term...clapton is god wrote:Short break booked for annual mid-October hol in Southwold, Suffolk. I've not stayed around Mevagissey before - anyone on here been?
