I'd prefer to stay non-comital yet, based on the unpredictability of both cricket and our team. 336 seems a lot at times, then suddenly it doesn't. Que-Sera..
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Excellent day so far. Finished them off effectively, and then made a positive start with the bat. Need to keep going now.
Also, great effort by Anderson. It takes a lot to come back from the summer he had, train for 7 months for a tough India trip and then bowl so wonderfully.

Great stat that since he turned 38, Anderson is averaging 14 with the ball in Asia.

Yeah, I was just looking, that he's only 18 wickets adrift of Warne now....c'mon Jimmy!
We're at tea, feels like Jonny, Stokes and Foakes are going to be pretty pivotal after it (notwithstanding our chasing abilities)...

Bit bleak this morning after a very good start from England. Bumrah who let’s face it is a bit good, seems to have done for us.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 9:01 amYeah, I was just looking, that he's only 18 wickets adrift of Warne now....c'mon Jimmy!

On Jimmy there is a very real chance he can go past Warne isn’t there? Assuming he plays this summer we’ve three against Windies and three against Sri Lanka. You’d expect a reasonable wicket return from those. Plus whatever he adds on this tour.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Fingers crossed for Jimmy, I suspect having no Australian in front might be holding him together! (Or maybe he's chasing Murilitheran...should he make neither, I doubt he'll remember fondly when he and Broad were "rested" (was that WI away?) Just before Bazball...I think Warne is certainly in sight...
Was going to say our first innings was now looking a bit grim...but we're less than 190 adrift, so should be a doddle.

6-45 from Bumrah and they don't like playing him at home...
This doesn't feel quite the same as the last one - 171 lead with 10 wickets in the bag is substantial and 400 might be a tough chase in 4th innings...
The big difference is, we'd already have read the last rites by now on previous tours.

Starting to look like a 400 chase. But another couple for Jimmy so far.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
As many wickets for him in this test as in the 4 he played in summer.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 7:34 amStarting to look like a 400 chase. But another couple for Jimmy so far.
We’ve fought back well here. Usually you wouldn’t give a team a chance chasing 400, but we’ve learned never to write off this England team!

Yes on Anderson, he's only 5 from 600 now and 13 adrift of Warne, maybe he'll have another think at that point...
Decent start to the chase, but we need a 200 batter or a good few more heading topside of 50.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I think given the end-state, deserved win for India - can't have too many complaints. I think what we've seen so far is that is isn't as easy to chug at 6 or 8 an over in India (generally) than it is from a helpful pitch in the England. Comparatively over 2 tests, we're comfortably ahead on average strike rate (I think ~61 vs ~43/100), but they're managing to last longer which is compensating somewhat.
We did a great job first test where the ave SR was 42 v 51, because we batted longer. 2nd test the SR difference was more marked - they remained about the same 43 we (comparatively) zoomed it at 70, but occupied the crease (I'm not talking in a Geoffrey sort of way) 65 overs less.
It's interesting to see it play out over the next three! Compelling series so far.

Australia have just beaten WI inside 7 overs in an ODI, chasing 80-odd....That's getting your money's worth!

I'd hoped their recent Test triumph might spark a bit of a revival but, er...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeah - me too. On the test front, it was only a 2 test series, I think, so they'll probably not be too unhappy with a 1-1, given they were blown away in the first one.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 10:54 pmWorthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 11:39 amAustralia have just beaten WI inside 7 overs in an ODI, chasing 80-odd....That's getting your money's worth!

I'll take a draw right now...India have progressed at a decent run rate, up from the first two tests overall, I think. So hopefully our batting can amass a few when it's our turn sometime tomorrow.

Very sloppy in the field from England. They won’t be happy at all with that. Drops. Too many runs handed away.
Big job here to save this test I think.

We’re going about the batting nicely. Hopefully we can keep going, as we often see how quick wickets can change things. A good score from Root after this start will put us right back in the game I think.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 10:23 amVery sloppy in the field from England.
