After all that we are still just about in this. Knock last two over quickly and then for me it needs one of the openers to anchor the innings. Good game again though.

Dropping too many catches though.

Feels like it's right on a knife edge. Every run counts. It's already a stretch but knock them over and hope for the batting. I thought the team looked wrong from the start. A batter short means this line up of anyways a gamble. Spitting minefield now means the pressure is on on for two or three to go as big as you can because you can always get out.

Yup they capitalized pretty well on that in the first innings. What did we miss Masood on, 45? and 76? That's 115/80 runs they shouldn't have had which is really the first innings difference...

It's the hope that kills you. 263. On the face of it not a huge total, albeit higher than we managed in the first innings. It would be the second highest run chase at OT...

277. I think we’ve relatively little chance with the way these bowl. Spinner is the issue...I can’t see him not taking 2 or 3 at least. Burns unlucky for my money, yes it was back leg but hit on thigh pad...I reckon lot of umpires wouldn’t give that out on the field.

Aye saw the replay and my initial reaction was over the top of the stumps. I think it's a philosophical debate though. The Laws don't actually say benefit of doubt to batsman and never have, so as long as umpire is comfortable in their judgement it would've hit then it's ok to fire the bugger off. The question remains whether anyone is capable of accurate judgement where the ball clips the bails as in Burns dismissal to come to the conclusion that the ball absolutely would've hit the wickets, coz if you're not sure it would have, the only other possibility is it wouldn't and you'd have to give not out...

Root and Sibley both have starts here...feel at least one of them has to go big to give England a chance. Can’t keep relying on Stokes and the middle order really needs a sticker to bat with to stop wickets falling in bunches. Big innings for captain Root. He is most equipped technically to take on the Pakistan variety of bowling.

It’s another start and out for Root. More than a habit now. Has the technique but all is not what it was. Pre 2018 or so I’d have expected him to get a hundred here or close.

Buttler and Woakes treated this like a 50 over game. It’s put pressure back on Pakistan but they are still massive favourites. One wicket and it’s curtains type scenario. Shame once again that the top order didn’t quite do enough.

Well, if fcking Buttler could catch or stump, they'd have been in the Trafford Hall by now!

Same could be said of most of the team in this instance. If Root hadn’t pissed around bowling himself, if Stokes hadnt dropped it, if Jimmy and Stuart hadn’t had an off session, if any of the top order including Stokes had made some proper runs in either innings....

So much rests on Jos now. If someone can stick around at the other end (ideally Woakes) we've a great chance. As well as Woakes has played it's a much bigger ask for him to lead the rest of the bowlers through.

This has got us needing about 10 to win with Jimmy and Broad swiping at everything and hoping for the best.

Yet you managed to narrow it down to top order!? Bloke made 150+ after being spilled on 45. If that ain't the difference, I'm a fcuking Dutchman. Bowled out for <150 in the second innings...
