The bloke who washed my hair at the hairdressers today just about managed to pull off having a beard - though it wasn't one of those huge thick bushy ones so perhaps that's why. And Lever End IS a serial killer. I've seen evidence.

Hang on. My limited knowledge of betting tells me that if you place an accumulator bet and your first horse comes nowhere then that's the rest of your bet gone for a shit too. Your pal's a money laundering drug dealer. Inform the authorities immediately or else you're an accomplice and a peddler of death.

That's what I thought - the first part anyway.

Me too, Worthy, please enlighten us. Perhaps he meant he would have won the money if he'd started his run after the first race; or perhaps he laid a second bet after the first had lapsed? I'm 'confuserated'.

Depends what type of accumulator it is. There are ones that if one horse goes down, the whole lot is gone because of a single horse. What my mate bet was a Lucky 15, which is 15 bets within one. At £4 per bet (you pick the stake) so it was a £60 win bet. To go each way it would have been double.

You get 4 singles (so any of your horses winning will pay the single) - that's 4 bets.
You get 6 doubles (horse 1&2, 1&3, 1&4, 2&3, 2&4, 3&4)
4 trebles (horse 1,2&3, 1,2&4, 1,3&4, 2,3&4)
1 fourfold (1,2,3,4)

So his favourite not coming in, lost him 7 bets, he still won on the other 8.

it would have been a huge win, had his other come in.

Just worked out, it would have been £428k if his last had come in, but the bookies would have only paid to their max, which I think was £250k

That's either Ladbrokes or Bet Fred. Both are good with this type of 'lucky 15/30 etc' type of bet. Good on yer mate Worthy. For what it's worth, my grandad once won the ITV 7 in the seventies. John Rickman 'n all............

Thanks, Worthy. That information shows what little I know about gambling. I have always thought that an 'accumulator' was a series of bets where the winnings from the first selection is re-invested in the second and any winnings from the second re-invested in the third . . . and so on. Any break in the sequence means your investment (as usual I suspect) finishes in the bookie's bank account. Well you live and you learn.

That is also an accumulator. But it's a single bet. So not that far out. :D

Did anyone hear Bez on the wireless this morning? I think he'd had drugs for breakfast. He's after taking over from Hazel Blears with his campaign to make beehives. :?

Walking the dog last night stumbled upon a large frog, showed it to the dog who decided to try and pee on it!! No idea why he would do that vile wee git.
My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

I use, well used mostly these days as the twins are pretty much potty trained :( reusable nappies, and so belong to a few buying and selling groups on facebook (yes, I know...) Anyway, one went for the other day for £40! For a nappy! I'm thinking of starting a new business. Easy money!
