Bottle each of Israeli, Slovenian, Lebanese, Macedonian, Greek and German (red) wine. Seems like a good selection, makes a nice change from the norm.
I've never heard much good about rotwein but one never knows. Report back on these, milord.
The German Pinot was very good. I'd try it if you can find any.

You can hardly get any German wine in this Province (least of all red) but I'll check if the Opimiam Society offers any and give it a go. Thanks.

I tried rotwein for both the first and last time whilst in Frankfurt last June. A fecking dreadful business. Leave it well alone, Monty.

Half price Marlborough Crux Sauv Blanc at £6 in Morrison's. I do love a fruity New Zealander. Will be top for any sunny weather. I've stocked up.

A tip off for the Aldi wine afficianados on here - they've got some new ones in, including a Verdejo, a Vermentino and a Costiere de Nimes.

The last one's not half bad for a smidge under a fiver. Not tried the Verdejo yet.

The current Aldi bargain buy is an Albarino from Galicia at 5.99. The Sainsbury version retails at 8.99. I bought three bottles today. Just testing one now. Nice.

Will go well with the chicken piri piri.

I also bought a Rioja reserva at 5.99, a Fleurie at 6.49 and a Portuguese Vinho Verde at 4.99.

I had a 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon from their "exquisite collection" last week. £7 and one of the best tipples I've had in yonks.

Yeah the Albarino and Fleurie I bought were also from the 'Exquisite' range. A touch of hyperbole there - but a bloody bargain...

Love it. Spend 7 quid on wine in there and they roll the red carpet out.. Felt like a rock star. Girl at the checkout was giving one of those 'alright Jay Z, you can come again' looks.

Thanks for that, bb. Got a bottle on your recco. Good stuff indeed at £6.99. First glass going down nicely as potatoes bake and Vaughan Williams does stuff with Greensleeves...

I don't know wine.

But I had this last night (copied and pasted from website)

'M' GRAND MALBEC - IGP PAYS D'OC, FRANCE

£25 a bottle. Was good. Tasted rather fruity rather than bitter which I get from a lot of wines. I wasn't paying.

Ah, the Vino Verde. Much underestimated wine which used properly is simply fantastic. For me the ideal wine to accompany Chinese food .... if you have to have wine with it.

I take it that price was on a wine list in a restaurant?
