Had need of a new external DVD writer with LightScribe capability. Last time I bought one of these it cost me £75, this one just £11! I pay more than that for blank discs!

aye - so did I - can't really see what all the panic-fanny fuss is about... it's not THAT different - and I was on Vista!
I had a look at Edge, chiefly cos I wanted to see how that "reading list" app works - so you have to use Edge..
you'd have thought - with an ultra modern brand-new much-fanfared browser, they'd have sorted out the basics - such as:
1. how to import firefox bookmarks into Edge favourites
2. a half-way decent functionality re. organising said bookmarks
also - no plugins... yet....
Re: Technology Thread.
OK, so we've had plenty folk talking about the change from 7 to 10; what about from the oft-maligned 8 to 10?
I'm not a fan, but I've got the start button thing and do everything through the desktop and don't bother with apps. Is there any point?

I'll be upgrading my win 8 pcs as there is a bit of improvement, but not my win 7 pcs as Win 7 is better than both 8 and 10 IMO.Prufrock wrote:OK, so we've had plenty folk talking about the change from 7 to 10; what about from the oft-maligned 8 to 10?

I went from 8.1 to 10...I think it's not so much a case of is there any point as opposed to why wouldn't you...I hit upgrade overnight, went to bed, was done by the time I got up the next morning...My experience thus far has been more positive than 8.1....Prufrock wrote:OK, so we've had plenty folk talking about the change from 7 to 10; what about from the oft-maligned 8 to 10?

That said Windows 8 will still be in mainstream support until 2018 so I suspect it won't be a big problem for a while yet.

On an entirely different bite, has anyone got a decent docking station with dab radio that they would recommend? I fancy a B & W Zepellin but I'm not coughing up 500 notes.

I just have sonos dotted around the house and stream radio or my own tunes from a nas. More flexible and sound quality is decent.

Right, I've installed Widows 10 on my HP Pavilion and have noticed now that my laptop won't wake from sleep mode. I am having to power it down completely if it is in sleep mode. I can press every key on the keyboard and it still doesn't respond.
Anyone know how to fix this? I take it that it isn't an HP thing because I didn't have this bother with Windows 8
Cheers

You are not the only one having this problem... there doesn't seem to be a simple fix yet, though several people have affirmed that this slightly more bothersome "fix" does the trick...Bruce Rioja wrote:Right, I've installed Widows 10 on my HP Pavilion and have noticed now that my laptop won't wake from sleep mode. I did a factory restore of windows 8 and then downloaded windows 10 iso from microsoft and reinstalled.
Yeah you will have to back up everything first since you are doing a factory restore, but so far it wakes from sleep with the lid open or closed. Also seems to boot faster and shuts down properly also, something it wasn't doing before. I didn't try to roll back to 8 because I heard about problems doing that. Don't know if this will work for everyone but it did for me. Hopefully for good. Will report back if that changes so no one wastes time trying it.

Cheers Bish. I shall hope that they bring out an easier remedy for it then.thebish wrote:You are not the only one having this problem... there doesn't seem to be a simple fix yet, though several people have affirmed that this slightly more bothersome "fix" does the trick...Bruce Rioja wrote:Right, I've installed Widows 10 on my HP Pavilion and have noticed now that my laptop won't wake from sleep mode. Yes, that's the other annoying thing, too. After shutting down you still have to power-off at the switch. fecking amateurs.

Re: Technology Thread.
^Bruce, just roll back to 8, or whatever you had on before. Takes very little time. Then just wait for a fix to be rolled out before going back to 10. Well that is what I'd do at least.
