I'd probably try the link I posted first - looks like some installations might be changing the power management options (including wake-up)...gotta be worth a check before doing a rollback.

Rolling back to Windows 7 has fecked various things up on my laptop, and I'm finding more as time goes by. Fresh install is all I'd recommend...

McAfee are mithering me with stuff saying that my cover ends today and that they want £50 out of me for another 12 months worth of whatever.

Can't I score this kind of guff free from off of the interweb? I'm sure I have before.

I use BullGuard. As good, indeed better, cheaper and multi-user/ multi-machine usage.

One thing about leaving MacAfree ... it's like leaving Sky. You have to be determined, dogged and keep your eyes open for tricks as they re-join you and bill you anyway.

Cheers chaps. I've uninstalled all the McAfee programmes and installed Prufrock's one.

Aye, I'll have to block the mithering feck* emails too.

Do you have a anti-malware programme too Bruce? I have Avast as anti-virus, Superantispyware and malwarebytes for malware and adware, and CC cleaner for occasional housekeeping. All free, all run in the background with only the occasional pop-up reminder to update their databases for new baddies (Avast sometimes tries to sell you the paid one but IMO it's worth it for free anti-virus). Plus a pop-up blocker if you use streaming sites.

Never had any issues.

Not sure what I had to be honest, Prufrock, but I'll download all of that and see what it says. Cheers.

also it's always worth soaking your computer in a bucket of bleach every night and hosing it the next morning with a flame-thrower to remove any stubborn remaining threats...

Just had this from our IT bods in the US.

Now, our lot are renowned panic fannies, but does this sound about right to anyone else?

When you see that the update ios9 is available on your iPad or IPhone we recommend that you wait for a few weeks until they sort out the initial issues that are occurring or you may find that your device may behave erratically including taking your device completely out of service. We will let you know when there is a stable version that is safe to download.

We were sent a similar one at work. My wanky iPad has company apps installed and we have been warned that these are unlikely to work until the apps have been amended and updated.

I'm still waiting for my Windows upgrade.

I'm unsure whether to be outraged or relieved. Should I rattle a cage or keep my head down?

I'd keep quiet until they've sorted out this sleep/hibernate/on-off business out, which will be next month, according to a pimple-chinned geek that I asked over the weekend.

Sounds both normal and sensible to me.
