They had it on at the hotel I was in last night. And Doom Bar.

I'd just had a month off the pop.

Oh dear.
I just had a month off the pop, then four nights in Peurto Banus came round all of a sudden. Now I'm having another month off the pop!

Now as we know pumpkin has for some reason taken over autumn and winter via starbucks and various other liquid providers. However, for the first time at the weekend i had a pumpkin beer. Twas called Pumking, by Southern Tier brewery, and looked thusly

Image

Firstly, it's absolutely delicious. I'm not an ale drinker (is this even an ale? i don't know) but it's so flavoursome and easy to drink that i could imagine knocking a few back at home as well as out.

Secondly, i was halfway through my second bottle when i noticed the ABV - it's pushing 9%! Given how easy it is to drink that is insane.

But yes, recommended.

Quite a large beer then,
9% is lethal, wouldn't touch it personally.

Probably in Rammy tomorrow... I've probably asked this before, but what's the best real ale pub thereabouts?

Eden brewery in Penrith do a number of Withnail and I themed beers. Had one of their strong ones the other day, Revenge at 9.1%, which was delicious and easy to drink. Also tried Antifreeze, which was decent, but overly strong on the hops.
Had a couple of excellent beers from Frodsham Brewery too, will try more of theirs.

Not been myself but the Irwell Brewery is supposed to be good. Doubt there will be much better anywhere else in Rammy.

Excellent place, although my main memory is of regular text updates as BWFC were on the wrong end of an 8 goal thriller at Leicester a couple of years ago.

^ Up the stairway to heaven and sat sitting in the Tap Room right now supping a well tasty pint of Green Manalishi. A really tasty green hopped sweet golden bitter (brewed once a year I'm told)
Excellent recommendation folks. It's the drinking place to be in Rammy, right up my street, although no blazing fire it is currently vape (and drone) free.

Signed up to that beer52.com site which is like a wine club for ales.

Looks promising, not cheap but can cancel any time...

Had possibly the best pint, I've ever had last Saturday. It was "Silver Tally" by Prospect brewery (local brewery in Wigan). Absolutely smooth and silky pint and definitely in my top 3 drinks if not the top  and only £2.30 a pint.

You want to go in Sinclair's Oyster Bar (next to Corn Exchange) in Manchester. I went in earlier this year, ordered three pints and were charged £2.70. Not each but for three pints. Not the greatest pint you will have but decent for the price.

So my mate opens Bunburys Beers on Wednesday, his new shop specialising in craft beers, real ales and imported lagers. He has on and off-licences so it's a take-out bottle shop and he has 5 beers on tap, ffrom Blackedge, Rivington and the Irwell Works breweries. He's a genuine friendly bloke who loves talking beer and rugby league and I'm hoping it takes fof for him.

It's on Chorley Old Road next to the magic shop opposite and slightly up from Ivy Road.

Trying a very nice Sheffield ale tonight... Doctor Morton's Chicken Vindaloo.
Really tasty, made from the hard to get hold of New Zealand hops Nelson Sauvin. Gorgeous.
