I'm not big on the "I know a guy" stuff, but a mate who works for the BEEB in Manchester as a Technician & occasional producer told me some time ago, & confirmed it yesterday while I was with him at the match, that maybe 15yrs ago there was an instruction at Oxford Road that, due to rumours and to avoid any suggestion of inappropriate behaviour, Jimmy Savile was to be accompanied at all times when in the premises.

The Vatican have just released a statement to say that they regret awarding Jimmy Savile a papal knighthood adding that if they'd known the full extent of his activities they'd have made him a priest instead.
