TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

All done. It took about an hour and a half to transfuse. Waiting game now to see if it works.

Transplant done. Just hope it works now.
Excellent! So pleased that Freddie has been given what he needs. Could you give us a brief rundown on what is expected/hoped to happen over the next few weeks, when you have a moment please if that's ok?

I'll be raising a glass to young Freddie this evening!

They're basically hoping the donated bone marrow replaces Freddie's and that it starts to produce the blood cells and platelets he needs to survive. In effect he is taking on a new immune system.

How long does it take to know if the new marrow is taking successfully?

It seems like forever no doubt and time will drag, but you've waited much longer with no end in sight. You can do it, Freddie!

Thanks.

No real update. Only day two, they're happy with how he's doing. Expected him to be far worse than he is, only side effect (so far) is that he seems more sleepy than normal.

Update from wife's FB

Day +5 post transplant Freddie is doing well, still as lively as ever. Not eating much but he is on a constant feeding drip to replace his food. Not had many chemo side effects yet but know this usually starts from day 7. Blood and platelet transfusion today then hope by next Monday his bone marrow should start to show signs of starting to make blood cells something he hasn't done for a very long time. I'm extremely tired today due to the constant interruptions for the last 2 nights (not Freddie) but going to get a nap later and hope that tonight is a better night.

All very positive (apart from the sleep deprivation)

I know what its like when you can't do anything but watch and wait. Sleep and eat when you can and let someone else do a shift. If you can, try and get a meal with the family or treat your other lad to a visit to the pictures.

My thoughts are with you.

Brave Boy! It looks like the nasty reaction to the campath has gone away - hope there were no other side effects.
