Thought "I shall wear midnight" was ok, but not top drawer. Still a decent read though. I did want one more Witches book with Nanny and Granny in a main role, but wasn't to be...

Have most of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I say most as I have lent some down the years and not got them back (You know who you are)

Currently I'm reading the second of his Long Earth series (The Long War) which is an interesting step into the story of parallel worlds and how people react to having the world's resources repeated (nearly exactly) infinite times. The price of gold and precious metals and stones plummets almost overnight, for instance.

I'll miss him. Well, his work, but I wouldn't have minded a pint with the bloke.

God Bless Terry

A huge fan and thing like this don't usually get to me but this one did, RIP Sir Terry, he's probably above us now riding Binky and being chased by a box with legs.

All of his books were great but Agnes Nutter Witch, Hogfather, Wee Free Men Trilogy and the Witches ones all stand out for me

Someone give the librarian a big bunch of bananas (unlike Nanny Ogg I know when to stop when spelling bananas) he will need them
My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

Easy Rider Dennis Hopper - prostate cancer at 74 (Keep getting that annual test, guys). RIP Dennis, you had some great roles.

Never thought I'd be posting smileys in the death thread, but

And sadly Monty, there is no annual test for prostate cancer in the UK. The PSA test is too inaccurate to use for screening. Interesting fact: 93% of men will die with prostate cancer, but only 3% of men will die of it.

I had no ideas the incidence was so high. There is mixed evidence on the PSA test. European studies recommend not using it but elsewhere one reads:
A Canadian specialist, however, takes issue with the recommendation.

The task force’s guidelines are flawed for Canada, said Dr. Neil Fleshner, who studies and treats prostate cancer at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.

"By using the PSA test, we can absolutely find lethal cancers early and by intervening in those men, we can save their lives. Therefore, these recommendations undoubtedly will lead to more prostate cancer deaths," Fleshner said.
I guess I'll keep having the PSA and the finger - this certainly saved a friend of mine, although clearly many prostate cancers are non-lethal.

yeah. that's what i was refering to , people who wake up from long comas don't do it "when did bolton sack megson ? " , "the russians have been to space ? " , "no one told me abe vigoda died" or whatever. people might not read newspapers or whatever but google does. no one should use facebook as their homepage. (about:blank FTW)

the RIP news that gets me (its amazing, i cannot believe it even two years ago when i first noticed it on a glimpsed ep of that Modern Family tv programme) is that the jew doctor that isn't ed begley jr in Saint Elsewhere is still kicking.

checkit

not sure if i've mentioned that before , and i hope ive not jinxed him by mentioning it now.... or mr vigoda neither.
