Thanks, chaps. I think 70 is the worst milestone birthday. 30 and 40 you are in the prime of life. At 50 a more mature family man. At 60 bringing wisdom to still being a productive member of the labour force. At 70, supernumerary, a drain on the health care system and a blot on society. At 80 you don't know who you are let alone your age, so you're happy. Still what can't be helped must be endured. I've reached the three score years and ten the good book promised. Is that the lot I thought. Could there be an extension? I went to check Psalm 90. On the bright side if you are strong you get another ten years. On the down side, those years are full of labour and sorrow. Poor old Tango. Yes, definitely time for a few drinks.

I worked for three months after I turned 70,Monty, then retired. 65th was a milestone, after that I stopped bothering. 75th coming up in September and eighteen months without a cig......Que sera, sera...
