Looking forward to this more than the World Cup if I'm honest.

Kinell. Never realised Ian Thorpe was so Huuugge. Made Daley Thomson look like a midget.

Watching the opening ceremony. I don't know why, but my overriding thought is that I hope and pray the commonwealth games never get awarded to Liverpool.
Hope is what keeps us going.

So so far we've had Billy Connolly who's not set foot in Glasgow since 1977, Rod Stewart born London, England and Susan Boyle singing the Mull of Kintyre. A song written by that world famous scot Paul McCartney.
Brilliant.
Brilliant.

I just flicked over to see Liz & Phil arrive & then a God awful version of the National Anthem proceeded by a muted booing which was hushed down. Then some kid in a skirt run across a wooden floor like a mugger fleeing a pursuing old lady.CrazyHorse wrote:So so far we've had Billy Connolly who's not set foot in Glasgow since 1977, Rod Stewart born London, England and Susan Boyle singing the Mull of Kintyre. That was all I'll manage I think.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: 2014 Commonwealth Games...
Its getting better.
We're now about to be introduced to the atheletes as they wander around the stadium with mouths opened wide, filming the whole event on their phones.
This is my favourite bit of any opening ceremony. Not boring or tedious at all.

Just make sure they pick up the Scottish parts of the bill if they go independent. What? That'd be all of it? Great!

I really can't watch to see that shite tartan and the odd blue blouse the men are going to wear. Now that's a car crash in slow motion.

I'm not very well up on movies and their actors and so I didn't realise Jason Stanthan represented England at the Commonwealth Games in 1990. He wasn't very good but better than me.

What a load of tosh!
Just a thought, will they be booted out the comonwealth if they go independent subject to negotiating re-entry terms?

Re: 2014 Commonwealth Games...
I'm really disappointed. I fully expected that other famous Scotsman, Mel Gibson,to be there, riding a white horse and carrying a huge Scottish flag and that massive broadsword that would be absolutely useless in close combat, to lead a massive parade of pipes and drums all shouting "You can have Andy Murray, but you can't take our freedom!"...
