4th sentence on the 23rd page of the book nearest to you. (I'm assuming complete new sentences not continued ones from the previous page) Saw this on another forum and decided to do it for a bit of fun:

"Are you going to stay in L.A", she asked.....The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly

May I be so bold as to ask the point of this? If there is one?

We ordered kipper pate, parmesan custard with anchovy toast ('outstanding,' said the waiter), pimientos de pardon, salsify fritters (which turned out to be off because the fryer had collapsed) and rabbit rillettes with pickled endive.

It is not a text in which I would place great reliance. There never was any such thing as the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. In 1806, when Francis abdicated as the last Holy Roman Emperor, there wasn't even a German nation. Germany was only created in 1871. I don't believe Napoleon commanded him to abdicate either. He had long planned the abdication and had created the Empire of Austria two years previously so he could become Francis I, Emperor of Austria (not Germany mind).

I accept your correction but not the assertion that fried peppers with salt on could ever live up to the description of them being "delicious", my good man.
