yeah... though, the other mimliband might now be weighing up his options... he's kept his powder very dry for quite some time now...Worthy4England wrote:Gotta say, I'm looking round and I'm not seeing any shoe-ins. positives... farage gone (yesterday's man)
balls and miliband gone - both of them were toxic to labour's cause
so - when does this renegotiation with Europe start?
Balls was always gonna be toxic - stained (rightly or wrongly - it doesn't matter) with his association with Brown and the stories told about labour's handling of the economy (again - rightly or wrongly...)
also - he always looks smug.
I think labour should head-hunt Sturgeon...

I'm all for trying to swing The Sun our way. Time to give all the out of work Page 3 models a job. That should go down pretty well with the TU's, who clearly wouldn't want to see anyone out of work.thebish wrote:yeah... though, the other mimliband might now be weighing up his options... he's kept his powder very dry for quite some time now...Worthy4England wrote:Gotta say, I'm looking round and I'm not seeing any shoe-ins. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yes, probably just like Tony Blair for example.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Not many jump out.
Andy Burnham and Diane Abbot can f*ck off for starters, as can Chuka. Apparently the Tories are most scared of him. F*ck knows why. It's going to be a job of pick the most charismatic/bossy I reckon.
Can't see it being David Miliband now. Firstly, they'll want to get away from anything vaguely "Miliband". Secondly, he doesn't have a seat!
My tip is another leftie, Stella Creasy say, who will make it about two years before getting shoved and somebody more "electable" taking over (a David Miliband coming back to win a bye-election, or my dark horse Keir Starmer).
That or it's I've Ate Balls all the way.

A man so interesting that his wiki page includes a note on how he didn't witness Hillsbrough.

Anyway, personally I like Douglas Alexander, but he's not got much chance at the moment.

i dont know enough about tony b to know if thats supposed to be intentially ironic (maybe he was trotskyite or summat) but yeah, someone like that.Lord Kangana wrote: Yes, probably just like Tony Blair for example.
but no, they'll dig up alan johnston or some other 'never was' type.
and then ukip'll hoover up the "working class" vote that labour doesnt want.
Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
It's an odd one. A "Blairite" is probably the only type of leader who is electable nationally, but that label might well be enough to mean they couldn't win the leadership in the first place.Lord Kangana wrote:a1 wrote:labour is toxic to labour's cause.

Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
Politics is cyclical. As my dad always says, stick around long enough for your inevitable mistakes to catch up with you and you'll be out on your arse. 13,5 million people voted for Blair's government - almost 100 seats more than the current lot.
Interestingly, its taken 4 elections for the Tories to recover from that low ebb of 160 seats to 330ish. In the same time Labour has lost 200. Unless we change the voting system, this kind of swing backwards and forwards is inevitable. Its nothing else.

Pru's Political Poem:
There once was a poll by Ipsos MORI,
that predicted Ed Miliband glory,
but no experts in psephology,
they had to make an apology,
because the f*ckers elected were all Tory.

Pixie woman's husband has time on his hands now so can look after the kids whilst she's busy at work.
